That's exactly what it is.

Thanks for the chat & your coverage. When Ben retired Rooney stated in extending Tomlin’s contract then that he wanted Tomlin around to provide stability to the franchise. Is this QB merry-go-round with a different QB every year the stability he had in mind?  Tomlin’s fingerprints on the QB position has been anything but stability. Your thoughts please. Thanks.
Gerry Dulac

I doubt it's what he had in mind, which is why they drafted Kenny Pickett the following year

If a team called and said "What is the opening price for TJ Watt" would the Steelers negotiate or completely shut down the call?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Their first question would be, "Why do you want to know?"
SC Steeler

Hi Gerry. Any chance the Steelers could draft Jenty from Boise?  I suppose he might be gone before the Steelers pick but he looked like a Steelers’ back.  He physically punished the (very good) Penn State defense in the CFB playoff.
Gerry Dulac
11:29
Really? I thought he had his worst game of the year against Penn State the way they shut him down.

Steelers brass is obviously doing their due diligence on 2025 draftees, but I can't help but notice they seem to be showing a lot of interest in players who seem to have a 2nd round grade on them, do you think they make a play to move back into round 2? Or is this just an "incase they fall to us" type of thing? (I do understand Tomlin loves to meet with guys he's interested in even if they don't draft them and have a chance to acquire them down the road)
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I think it's a matter of doing their due diligence every year so they have a draft grade on every player for the reasons you suggested

Steelers had “Juice” in for a FA visit, to no avail. Does that indicate FB is a need this summer ?

No

Do you think it’s possible Rodgers will not sign til training camp? I’ve heard he does not show up for OTA’s and Mini Camps! That way Tomlin does not have answer questions about why he not showing up? What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I think they will have moved on by that point

Why don’t they just dust off Ben.  Have you seen his recent photo?  He’s really trimmed down.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
So has Alan Faneca

I think they’ve telegraphed the first pick will be a defensive tackle.  They released Ogunjobi, didn’t sign a starter in free agency and the guys signed appeared to be ‘’just guys’’.  How many additional defensive tackles should they draft after the first round?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
As long as they get a top one in the first round

Which QB prospect do you predict the Steelers will draft, and in what round?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Fourth round at best. And I don't know

They chose not to spend big in FA on DL (mistake). Where does the money go should Rodgers not sign?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Maybe a trade, eh...!!
Thank U GD
11:33
Gerry first time longtime. How bad of a look is it for the Lone Ranger that the guy he benched turned into their plan A at QB, got signed within the 1st hour of free agency by the Jets and earned 3x the guaranteed money than the old guy Tomlin forced into the lineup mid season? And now, Tomlin wants the guy that the Jets cut! Time to move on.
Gerry Dulac
11:33
That's a some good twisted logic!

Gerry what do you attribute the lack of big name FA signings this year? With so much $$ to spend they came away with an aging CB and a few depth pieces. Really expected more of a splash (in addition to DK) especially on the DL. They allegedly made an offer to Hargrave among others but failed. Do you think MT has lost some of his luster in attracting players to play for him?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Hargrave was not their intended target. Kinlaw from the Jets was the guy they were targeting.

Morning Gerry.   Why is it so bad if they played Mason for the season and signed Flacco as his backup?  My reasoning is we’d be in better draft position to pick the qb for the future as well as filling other positions of need.  I understand people who say they’d be wasting another year of TJ and Cam Heyward’s career but I doubt a Super Bowl is in the picture even if Rodgers was the qb next  season.
Gerry Dulac
11:34
It's won't be so bad. But we'll see

Is Roger’s the short term answer???

At best. Nothing more than one year

Ever remember a guy winning a PGA tour event coming off of 3 consecutive MC's?  Hovland is one of the more underrated talents in the game imo.
Gerry Dulac

He's not under-rated by any means. Former FedEx champ who was ranked in the top 10 two years ago. One of the game's elite players

After getting gashed by the run last year, its time to draft a nose tackle that can plug up the middle even if he is a 2 down player don't ya think?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
It's time to draft a big-time defensive lineman, period

Good morning Gerry. If the Steelers were to deal Pickens, what would you think their return could be? Thanks

No. 2 pick

Good Morning, Gary.  The eval on Keanu Benton seems to be that he operates better as a 5 technique.  I'd love to have Harmon at 21, but he's looks to be more of a 5 also.  Not having the 2nd rd pick hurts (although the Metcalf trade should pay dividends on the field immediately) but could you see a scenario where They take Harmon in rd 1 and then select a 2 down space eating NT in the 3rd?  Seems like the draft is deep enough that an impactful 2 down type DL would be available in the 3rd, but the temptation to take a RB or developmental QB will be strong. Philly gave the league the blueprint to beat the Chiefs with their D line. And we aren't beating Baltimore at full strength with our run defense in it's current state, so I say double up on d line. What say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
Harmon is more of a three-technique than Benton. He can be more like Cam Heyward. I like Harmon

How is Oakmont CC shaping up for the Open. Still able to play on it?
Gerry Dulac

Rarely nicely, I'd say

While I like the addition of Metcalf, I believe he and Pickens are similar receivers. Do you think they still need a great route runner that can continuously get open and move the chains? Dionte Johnson was that guy until he completely imploded. Thank you!
