The scary part of the upcoming NFL draft for Steeler fans is wondering how much draft capital the Steelers, ie., HC Mike Tomlin will give up to get the allusive "MOBILE QB", and wondering how far down the list he is willing to go.
Gerry Dulac
10:16
I don't think you will see them give up any draft choices to get a QB, if they want a QB. It would be a waste to "go after" one of these guys because none of them are franchise QBs. Any team that does do that is desperate.

If we don’t sign Edmunds. What do you think about Ronnie Harrison being sign by the Steelers?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
OK

Hi G, I have repeatedly read that OC Canada did not have the right personal for "his" offense last season. If that is correct...wouldn't it have been sort of his job to build an offense around the players he actually had rather than force something that wasn't there?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
That is correct and, for that, you move to the top of today's chat class.

After FA it appears the Steelers have narrowed their needs to receiver, DL and safety. I would agree DL would be the top target in the draft and receiver next. When do you think they address safety. FA before the draft or in the draft. If FA who do you think they may sign.
Gerry Dulac
10:18
It's hard to say because one might all of a sudden become available. But, if I had to guess, I would say after the draft. I don't think their plan is to draft a safety who they think will be a starter.

Any word on Terrell Edmunds? Is he interested in coming back to the Steelers and if so, how far apart are they? Also, do you think the Steelers like a quarterback so much that they might trade up or will they stay at 20 and whatever happens happens? Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:19
If they trade up to get one of these QBs, shame on them. Waste of time
Joe
10:19
What are the odds they resign Edmunds before the draft?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I don't think they would re-sign him before the draft. Best case would be after
Joe
10:19
I feel like the Steelers will draft a receiver in the second or third round. But do you think they target a vet receiver after the draft and if so who?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I think it will be both. No later than the second day of the draft and also bring a vet WR to be the fourth or fifth guy
Keegan
10:20
Do you think The Steelers will resign Ryan Switzer being a close friend of Trubisky and knowing the system here in Pittsburgh.
Gerry Dulac
10:20
No
Joe
10:20
Any DL specific in the draft you think they target or you here they would like to draft other than Davis?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Part of the reason for wanting a DT because there aren't a lot of good ones out there. So if you want one (need one) you better get him early, like in the first round. There are a lot more WRs and OL than they are quality DTs

Hello Gerry.  The recent events really shown the steelers could move up for a QB if one drops.  Can you see moving up into 10 if willis falls?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
As Bruce Arians once said, 'God, I hope not.'
Hi Gerry
10:22
With the Steelers offseason moves, it seems like they are rebuilding the "middle class" of the team, which is important.  The drop-off between their top players and the lion share of the roster last year was significant.  By doing this, does it make more sense to pick someone like Jordan Davis or Willis who could have a higher ceiling vs. other options?  I still think OT and WR are their biggest needs.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
It makes perfect sense if they draft Jordan Davis

  • One change I would like to see on regular season overtime is back to 15 minutes. This would help decrease the number of ties.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Won't argue. But they cut it back for player safety/health reasons

What is our new WR Coach going to bring to the room other than his 40 career catches, 490 yardsa and 1 TD
Gerry Dulac
10:24
40 catches, 490 yards and a TD. Who knows? Wait and see. But, as a former coach once told me, 'You can't be a good painter without good paint.'

Hey Gerry, have the Steelers improved enough at linebacker with the FA signings that they can cut Bush loose if he has another subpar year?  I doubt they could get much for him in a trade if they don't pick up his option.
Gerry Dulac
10:24
They are not going to cut him loose. Let's give him a chance to have a full year of rehab under his belt after ACL surgery

Gerry, with all the talk of bringing Edmunds back, is Karl Joseph an option at that position?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
Probably not. If they thought he showed anything when he was here before, they would've re-signed him

It will be interesting to see what if any punishment comes to Watson. As we all know Ben was crucified, served his suspension and has turned his life around in may ways. And in that regard, why do we hear nothing of that from the talking heads/ Thank you as always for your imput
Gerry Dulac
10:26
I have to imagine he will be suspended for the 2022 season. I mean, 22 civil lawsuits?? C'mon

Hey Gerry. If the new OL can run block, does Harris get 2000 yards?  I think so!

I read a number of quotes yesterday and today that were, according to the writer/poster, made by HC M Tomlin. It is conflicting to read his quotes in their entirety. While MT is obviously very smart, it appears that he tries to impress whomever is listening to him, resulting is a mish/mash of words and phrases that don't impress anyone.  Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
I'll let you judge for yourself. It's my job to present what he says.

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats. I feel that if the Steelers draft a QB this year it will be a reach and, ultimately, a mistake, especially when the team has so many needs up and down the roster. I don't think anyone considers this team a true super bowl contender in a loaded AFC--my philosophy on team building, beyond head coach and QB, is to build around the line of scrimmage. What good will it do to draft Pickett or Willis with a bad O-line? Adding Cole and Daniels isn't enough. We need to take the best tackle available, and have depth on the line so the next QB doesn't get destroyed. The Patriots did this through the entire tenure of Brady's career: they won the line of scrimmage, they protected the golden boy, and had incomparable success. I'm terrified by what the Steelers might do in the first round. What are your thoughts on their draft strategy and what do you sense they will do with their first round pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
I hear ya and I agree. But their first pick will not be an O-lineman. In all likelihood, it will be a defensive lineman, but always keep in mind they never go to a sleep on a talented skill player (WR)

Hi Gerry, do you find it odd that Colbert nor Tomlin released any statement on Ben after he retired officially? They did it with Pouncey just a year ago and Tomlin had mentioned that he would sing the praises of Ben at a later time. Was there a falling out?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Yeah, but it came from the other side
