If Rodgers does not reach an agreement with the Steelers before the draft, what are the chances that they take a QB in the first round despite the glaring need at DL?  They made the bone-headed choice to draft Pickett in the first round when they should have waited another year to draft a QB, so I am not confident in the decision-making.

I can't remember a more embarrassing offseason as a Steelers fan than this offseason. Not sense the 80's Steelers. Waiting for an old QB that's a major drama queen and will never win them a Super Bowl. Is it really worth it? Or better to just draft a rookie QB?

Is it worth it? If it's the old Aaron Rodgers -- by old I mean, the guy from seven years ago -- then  maybe. If it's the old Aaron Rodgers -- by that I mean the 41-year-old model who won 5 games last season with three good WRs -- then no.

Nobody has been more consistent than you in pointing out the pressing need to restock the d line - if I recall you were saying this out last year. The need is now paramount (outside of qb - which is not an issue solvable in the first rd), even with all the other holes in the roster. Just a thank you for remaining a voice of reason since I can’t seem to stop myself from clicking on every ridiculous mock from self proclaimed “analysts” that ends up mocking a rb to them in the first rd. But seriously, they wouldn’t…would they?

Actually have been trumpeting the DL line pick since they chose Pickett. But, I will say this, RB is a priority for them, maybe right behind DL. And I have been told not to discount one in any round. But, because the RB draft class is deep, I think they think they can get someone on the third round

I run a 3rd generation business myself, and I think Art Rooney might just be trying too hard to emulate his previous family members by never changing coaches and being stuck in the past in some instances.  What are your thoughts on that?

I don't think he's trying to emulate them as much as it's engrained him as the son of the previous owner and the grandson of the team's founder.

Can't say definitely because I'm not in that draft room. You can rule out a QB in Rd 1. I won't say the same about a RB, even though I don't think that will be the case.

It sounds like Rooney wanted Wilson and Khan wanted Fields.  Tomlin wants Rodgers, so that is what will likely happen.  Do any coaches have the power he has?  Clearly, Khan reports to him and Tomlin seems more powerful than Rooney.  After seeing the place he has put this franchise over the past decade, what has he done to justify this much power?

Long time reader, first time responder.  I like Michigan's Grant with 21st pick but not sure he will be available.  After Grant, Harmon or the guy from Ole Miss.  My guess is that 2 or maybe all of these guys will be gone by 21st pick.  Who would you pick if all 3 are gone?  Please not QB.

I doubt it, but I can tell you I really like him as a perfect fit for the Steelers and a perfect complement for Metcalf when Pickens is gone
