I don't think any of his comments yesterday had anything to do with acquiring additional picks. They were more about the possibility of having additional comp picks that would allow them some maneuverability.

Gerry, do you agree that unless the Steelers would get a 1st (unlikely) or a 2nd rounder plus other picks there no reason to trade Pickens because they would probably get a 3rd comp pick? Or is his potential distraction fuel to trade him now for a 3rd?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
Pickens is one of those players who would command something good in a trade. Need I remind you the Steelers got a No. 2 for Chase Claypool??

could they trade high smith for a second? then bring in a Mathew Judson type player and let herbig start? He had a great year when watt was hurt, but maybe a little overpaid, very good backup, and need a second. then draft dart and second round dl?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Don't see it playing out that way at all at any point

Tomlin has seemed almost to exclude Milroe on purpose when listing young QB's in the draft but throwing out Howard, Leonard, Ewers when listing young QB talent. Is this a smokescreen or are they really out on him? I don't think he's going to be Jalen Hurts day 1 for 2025 but as far as mid round QB prospects go, he has a ton to work with.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
He mentioned those players -- not by name but by school -- because he was merely listing the three most recent pro days he and Okar Khan attended last week. That's all

If you were a betting man, who would be your pick between Trice and Slay to play the most snaps at cb2 next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
That's an easy bet. Barring injury, it ain't Trice
Rudy
10:24
Whatever happened to the "Steeler Way"? We had the most talented team in the NFL 2018-2019 and did nothing with it. Tomlin has no coaching tree and I have been a fan until the last few years when his stuborness to change has let both the O and the D pass him by.  Rocky once told me that players would work on a handshake with the Chief.  Dan was pretty much the same.  Question, can we get back to the "Steeler Way" or will it be impossible under Art and Coach T?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
That's what happens when you don't have the KiIller B's, Pouncey, DeCastro, a younger Cam Heyward

Do you foresee an open competition for ILB next to PQ? Wilson and Holcomb?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
I think they will use them the same way they used Wilson and Elandon Roberts last year.

Have you picked up a nugget yet at The Breakers?

Hey again, Gerry…what are the chances in your mind that the Steelers move George Pickens before or during the draft?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Not at all....then

Assuming the team enters the season with the wr room as it is now, who would you pick to have the most snaps in the slot next year between R Wilson and Austin?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Probably Austin, but too early to tell
Greenwood
10:27
Gerry, If Mason was given the starting QB job and keeps it all season, do you believe he has what it takes to lead the team to a Super Bowl?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
I don't think the Steelers team has what it takes to get to a Super Bowl, regardless of the QB

Gerry, As you see the dl that may be available at 21, Grant, Nolen or Harmon, who would be your preference and why?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Harmon. Best fit

I haven’t paid any attention to the LIV guys this year. Would you expect any of them to contend at Augusta or would your clear favorites be Rory and Scottie?

The only reason I could see not taking a DL in the first is if all the first round grade defensive linemen are gone by the time the Steelers draft. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
Yes. They won't reach.
Hi Gerry -
10:29
Based on his behavior and contract expectations, I find it hard to believe that someone would give up a second.  Would you let him hold in/out and take the compensatory pick next year, or clear the decks of his personality and take a mid-to-high 3rd this year?  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:29
You are underestimating the desperate nature of today's NFL GMs

Do you believe that MT's national profile has diminished over the past five years in light of noncompetitive playoff game losses and whiffs on OC and QBs?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Haven't seen evidence of it
Bruce
10:30
What % chance do you give Omar trading back in the first to pick up another day 2 pick? Or even trading out of it to get a small haul? Seems like this year would be the year to do that.
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Don't think you get a No. 2 or a "small haul" by moving up to No. 21
Hi Gerry -
10:31
I'm not sure I can believe I'm saying this out loud, so please don't tell anyone. However, would signing Rogers force the Steelers to alter their anemic offensive schemes and risk tolerance, and try to score more points through the air?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
They are always interested in scoring more points, but I will use this question to point up once again that the Steelers averaged nearly 29 points a game in the first seven games when Russell Wilson took over.
Hi Gerry -
10:33
If KC said they would give you a second for Pickens if you added our LG to the trade, since they need interior help, and he's in the last year of his contract, would you do it?  What else would you want, a 4th?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
So you're suggesting trading Pickens and Seumalo for a second-round pick and seeking something else in return, like a fourth? OK, I'm listening....

Will Rory finally get his Green Jacket next week?

So, it's seemingly come down to Steelers vs Vikes vs retirement for Rodgers. Doesn't the video of him throwing to Metcalf seal the deal with the Steelers? 2 high end receivers, decent tight ends plus last year's injured UM receiver would seemingly be desirable to Rodgers as an offense. If he wanted to retire, none of this throwing would be going on and Minnesota isn't showing him enough love. So it's the Steelers?
