Morning, just read your article on Minkah's contract situation. Why is there so much false information being sent out by national media writers that cannot warrant the information as true and up to date? This is really becoming a click bate era!
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Yes it is.

Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  Knowing Yinzer madness as you do, if the Steelers draft Pickett won’t that start an instant social media derangement syndrome and doom Trubisky?  The first MT incomplete pass will be on the Richter scale.  The best possible scenario for the Steelers is for other teams to draft 4-5 QB in rounds 1-19.  Great Steeler opportunity for an elite OL or DL starter at #20.  Your take?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Couldn't agree more

With the league moving to a heavy passing league is it time to run out a smashmouth offensive philosophy, beefy OL/TE's, to take advantage of all the nickel/dime base D's? That would open all the gadgety RPO stuff that Canada seems to like to run...
Gerry Dulac
11:07
You're seeing more of that mentality, little by little, creep back into the game. But it is still a passing league

I've been a Steeler fan since 1970 when they were terrible. They have been one of the most consistently successful franchises since the merger. So why do so called fans always have to pick a whipping boy(e.g. Dupree must be cut, then when he excels management are idiots for not signing him long term)? Do the childishness of chat questions correlate strongly with the silliness of the user chat name? Isn't being a sports fan supposed to be fun rather than constant angst and masochism?
Gerry Dulac

OK, now who let this guy with such insight sneak into the chat...???

Heard anything about the health of Najee? Especially his arm/elbow that led to his only fumble last season late?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
Yeah, he is fine

I’ve tended to agree with you and think the Steelers need to go DL with the first pick. But, with all the crazy money being given to top WRs, it looks like you need to prioritize WR in the draft.   I’m sure they’ll draft one high but do you think they’ll need to draft one in the first round to get a true #1 receiver?
Gerry Dulac
11:09
Believe me, they will prioritize one, if not in the first round, then the second for sure

I understand the Steelers doing their due diligence on this year’s quarterback class but isn’t it also an indictment on Mitch Trubisky that they don’t really believe he has a chance to be their long term quarterback? I’d rather see them draft dl, wr, ot, cb, etc. this year, see how Trubisky plays this season, and then if necessary draft a quarterback next year when the draft class is stronger. Then again, I’m just a fat guy sitting on my recliner!
Gerry Dulac
11:09
You're doing a good job with your insights sitting on that recliner!!

Charlie Batch always struck me as a great candidate for coaching.  Could that sill happen?  Have you ever talked to him about any interest on his part in that path? Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:10
I have not, but I don't disagree.

What is the likelihood that Tuitt will be in any type of condition to play this season? He wasn’t in playing shape last year and took a season off. Even if he indicates he wants to come back, do you really think he is a viable option?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
That is going to be up to Tuitt, and that's what the Steelers want to see before they are counting on his return. They want to see if he is fully invested mentally before they are fully invested in him.

Gerry thanks for thanks for straightening out bad info the so called experts put out. We don't need a Qb right now. D line & Wr is what we need. If we can run the ball & stop the run we can play with anyone.
Gerry Dulac
11:13
As Art Rooney II said after the season, that is the foundation on which the Steelers want to be built. And that means fixing the OL line and injecting new, young, quality blood on the D-line.

Reports were that the Minkah deal was almost done however, your article states talks have not started... Is the Minkah deal holding up the Honey Badger deal? Asking for a few thousand friends...
Gerry Dulac
11:16
No. As I said in the article, the Steelers say they are not in position to pay Mathieu when they are going to give Minkah a deal that dwarfs that
Ken
11:17
Will you be at The Masters and who do you have as a favorite there and at No. 20 in a few weeks for the Steelers? Also, if you are heading south this week are playing any course(s)?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
Sadly, I am not.
redsteeler69
11:17
Gerry why can't fans understand if you  draft a 3rd round Qb in the first round, he's still a 3rd rounder.
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Haha. That's like saying just because you put a dog in the cockpit doesn't make him a pilot.

Any talk in the Steelers org. about moving Claypool to slot? Doesn't seem like he has the athleticism/speed to get open regularly on the outside, but he does have toughness/hands necessary to get 1st downs in those 3rd-and-medium situations.
Gerry Dulac
11:19
They like all their receivers to be able to play all three positions. But, like JuJu, who played a lot in the slot, Claypool is the same type of receiver.
CT Art
11:19
The two most important positions on OL are LT and center. Pitt very weak at both. If tackle from UNI or center from Iowa are available, you have to pick one of them. We’re talking 10-year starters. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
There will no center drafted, trust me. They addressed that in free agency
Derry Gulac
11:20
Top WRs have matched pass rushers as the second highest paid position outside of QB. Only Johnson and Claypool are rostered, and Johnson is in the last year of his deal and could command upwards of $80-85 million over four seasons. Am I crazy to think that WR just might be this teams biggest need other than QB? Do you think there's a shot they take a WR in the first round?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Of course there is. But if you think that position is the biggest area of need other than QB, you are terribly misinformed
Dean
11:20
Hi Gerry …..with all the Steeler free agent signings …..whom do you think will make the biggest impact?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Myles Jack
Tim
11:22
Your pick for the masters, Gerry?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
It's online. Check
Johnny Schmidt
11:22
Gerry, with the price tag being put on wide outs explain to me why the Steelers are not in love with one? We need two
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Where...in the draft or free agency?? And how do you known they are not?
Johnny Schmidt
11:24
Gerry doesnt it make sense for the Steelers to be drafting two wide outs in this draft? Assuming WIllis and Pickett are gone
Gerry Dulac
11:24
I don't think it has anything to do with Pickett and Willis
