Hello Gerry . Thank you for the chat . Seems like Cleveland Browns,  in their infinite wisdom , have selected  2 QB in the draft , one of which last name is Sanders . I do not know how they intend to distribute reps between Gabriel , Sheduer , Pickett and Flacco in the training camp . Any chance that Steelers might bring back Pickett , if he wants to come back as well ? Just like Bill in LA , I am of the opinion that we did not give Pickett a chance long enough to judge him. I know it was his fault but we all make mistakes. Thank you .

I don't see that happening at all. Flacco maybe. Browns proved again they are in the running for the most dysfunctional franchise in the NFL, and that's saying a lot

Read that there were discussions of trading Pickens during the draft. Any insight into how serious those got, if true? Assume no one offered a 2nd for him if there were trade discussions.  Is Pickens in season trade value less than it was prior to and during the draft?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
No, it will probably only be enhanced, especially when a playoff-type team has injuries at WR

Would they have selected Grant or Nolen if either or both were there with Harmon at 21?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Maybe Grant. Maybe

Hi Gerry - Since the team didn't address OT Anderson only true back up & safety with Thornhill the only true back up, do you see them trying to address this with a cost effective street FA?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Maybe. That's the least of their concerns

Good morning, Gerry. How upset is Bill in LA that the Browns picked 2 QBs to compete with his favorite QB? Of course, this would all depend on KP staying and actually fighting for the job.
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Well, I haven't seen a question yet from our friend so I don't know

Good morning, Gerry.  Thank you for your draft insight and for getting information that the national media just doesn't get or understand. You helped me win a few beers from my brothers during our draft text string. My questions - if Dart had made it to their spot in the 3rd, would they have selected him over Johnson? If he had made it to the mid-2nd round, would they have tried to trade up for him?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:16
Good question, but probably not. They were intent on getting a RB before a QB, and they got a good one on the third round.

Gerry - thanks as always for the chats.  I feel like the adults in the room managed the draft - no reaches, no bizarre picks.  Just rock solid with a bias towards large, physical players.  Was this the underlying plan going in or did the board dictate the choices?  BTW congrats - you've been calling for a DT for 3 years - they finally followed your advice.
Gerry Dulac
11:17
They stuck to their plan and part of it was getting productive players. No reaches or future projects

Good Morning Gerry What's up with Mel Kiper does he really think he knows more than YOU or the Steelers brass.  Someone should put him in his place.  He waisted more time on Draft day than I ever saw before.  What say you.
Gerry Dulac
11:17
He was professionally embarrassing and even his on-air colleagues thought so

When the Browns cut Kenny please tell me they won’t bring him back.
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Don't see that happening. He wanted out and he's out.

I know teams would never make public their draft boards, although I would pay good money to see as a football junkie, but do you have any insights where they had Johnson ranked as a RB?  Had their DL targets been gone in round 1, I assume they'd have taken Hampton since he was still on the board, but did they have Johnson ranked before or after the two Ohio State guys, who went earlier?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Their top 3 RBs were Jeanty, Hampton and TreVeyon Henderson. Not sure where they had Johnson, to be honest, but I thought it was a great pick for the third round

It is egregious that the Steelers got blown out 73-0 in the 1st quarter of their last 5 playoff games.  That has to be some kind of record of futility.  Does anybody ever ask Tomlin what he thinks he did wrong and/or what he could have done  differently to prepare the team? Or will nobody admit the emperor has no clothes?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
I think we have addressed that countless times

Hi Gerry - Are you surprised that they didn't take a chance with Ryan Clark son with the bloodlines and Steelers ties?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
No.

Gerry, you must be giddy with the Harmon, Black, and Sawyer picks.  Do you have the Steelers brass' ear?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Giddy is a strong word to use with me, but I like the picks. They needed to address that run defense/defensive line because it had been exposed for what it is.

Gerry - Big fan of the Harmon pick, but a little more puzzled with the Black pick. Since the defense has played less and less in base package, not sure how many snaps a game Black might get. Was this more of the value in the 5th round?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
No, I think it was part of strengthening their rotation system. Let's face it, after Cam, Benton and Ogunjobi, what did they have that was effective? Or younger with promise? Not much

Gerry, Rich Eisen talked of Shedeur Sanders pointing out that he's not someone who's had past "red flags" so to speak: trouble with the law, substance abuse, other types of allegations, etc.  This type of behavior historically penalizes draft order.  Other than being a bad interviewee, perhaps Cleveland got a deal in the fifth round.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
I think it might have been more than a bad interview. There appears to be plenty of proof going around on social media. Go watch his combine interview and I think you will understand.

Thanks for the chats as always and hope the golf game is heating up!  I wanted to get your thoughts on the RB room.  Im glad we picked one up but will Warren get a fair shot to be the workhouse.  A lot was said about Harris durability but IMO Warren was the better of the two and harris started because he was drafted in the first round.  I know they split time evenly by end of season but why not give Warren a shot to handle more of the load?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Warren will begin as the No. 1 back, but he won't be a workhorse, just as we saw Najee Harris' workload diminish each year. They didn't draft Johnson to, in the words of Tom Donahoe, lead the band at halftime. And Warren is an UFA next year so that means he will be gone after 2025.

Good morning, Gerry. I love the draft approach the Steelers have employed the last couple of years. You can tell they have a blueprint of what they want. Do you have a favorite pick? I assume Sawyer since you have them a A+ grade for it. Thank you for the great draft coverage and recap!
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Considering where they got them, Johnson and Sawyer were great picks

Hi Gerry, Does Tomlin have any self-awareness about how bad a coach he has been with 3 playoff wins in the past 14 years? Most of them with Big Ben in his prime?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
I'll ask him

Gerry, If the Aaron Rodgers debacle wasn't hanging over the organization like a dark cloud do you think Mason would have been more inclined to take the bull bu the horns and organize a QB/Receiver retreat this spring?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Who's to say he hasn't?
TVC15
11:26
Does Tomlin have a "tell" that he is lying when he says "To be honest with you." BTW he says it like every other sentence.
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I'll be honest with you, I don't know
