Hey Gerry! So assuming Rodgers is starting this year, Rudolph is QB 2 and Howard QB 3, where does that leave us for 2026? Do we draft another QB after not giving Howard much of a chance? How do you see that working?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Well, under your scenario, Rodgers will be gone after one year and not sure how much work Howard will get to show what he has, especially in the regular season. Plus, unless he proves to be Tom Brady, not many sixth-round picks ascend to franchise QB

Hi Gerry, I was watching the talking heads on Get Up and I find it surprising that they are still fixated on not picking a QB higher. Has everyone suddenly forgotten what happened to our run defence last year? We could have Brady back there slinging it and we would still have lost those games with our run defence. Personally I think Rogers will turn up then they can complain about him instead of a lack of QBS..
Gerry Dulac
11:28
That's why I don't watch them. Because I know they don't know.

Hi Gerry. I just looked at the Terrell Edmunds draft. I believe the Steelers needed an inside linebacker. I noticed Fred Warner, arguably the best inside linebacker for some years, wasn't drafted until the 4th round of that draft. Is the draft a crapshoot or is it an indictment personnel and scouting? I ask because we find middle round players outperforming early picks regularly.
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Of course it can be a crapshoot. But, for every Fred Warner, there are four Buddy Johnsons. Maybe more.

Poor Kenny Pickett. The Brownies won't pick up his 5th year option, and with Flacco and the 2 rookies now in the room, could there be a Steeler reunion for KP??
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Poor bugger. No

Gerry - We got our stud DL we've been needing for yrs now! You and your fellow reporters at the Post-Gazette make these national media reporters look foolish. Honestly you guy's are the best. Appreciate the great coverage and insight.

OK, I'm running low on cash....

Why didn’t the Steelers try to sign cobee Bryant or zy alexander in UDFA?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I'll ask em

Good morning Gerry, do you feel like it’s time to move on from Aaron Rodgers. This is way too much drama, which is what he is known for.
Gerry Dulac
11:31
That was probably a long time ago. But, at this point, what's a few more weeks to wait??? Kinda like another deck chair on the Queen Mary

11:32
Are you willing to provide any prediction on opening game starter at QB? My bet is Rudolph.
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Rodgers

HI Gerry, nobody seems to take Mason Rudolph seriously as a contender for the starting job. By all accounts, he is smart, has a good arm and is a team player.  While not super mobile, neither are 15-18 or so other starting QB's in the league. What is the geartest deficiency holding him back?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
You'd have to ask the Steelers. I always thought Mason was Neil O'Donnell, a guy who could get you 10 or so wins and win a playoff game or two.

i may be in the minority but i really think if the steelers  tell mason rudolph that this years team is his he will respond and have a really good season. he can make all the throws ,read nfl defenses and at this point in his career has the exp. am i missing something?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Not really

11:33
Jerry, Do you think the Steelers will show any interest in signing Nick Chubb as a powerback option (mentor to a young RB room) on a 1 year deal to see if he has anything left in the tank? He looks healthy in his workout video's he has been posting.
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Not at all

Gerry I have been a season ticketholder for 25 years.  This is the first year that I am totally disinterested in the offseason.  They are going nowhere in my view. I am not mad, not excited but disinterested, which I think as a fan is far worse than being mad (at least you care).  Do you sense more fans are disinterested in this team? What say you
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I agree -- disinterested is worse than mad. Mad is predicated on passion. You care. Disinterested is devoid of passion. It means you don't care.

Hi Gerry. I just want to say what a great job you guys do covering the Steelers and I pay for an on line Post Gazette subscription because your coverage is worth it
Gerry Dulac
11:35
This is getting embarrassing. Wonder what my friend Bill in LA thinks?

Did Mike Sullivan of the Steelers accidentally get the termination email intended for Mike Sullivan of the Penguins? What are your thoughts on him being let go? Big deal, little deal, no deal?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
They did not renew Mike Sullivan's contract. Mike is a good dude and did a great job with the offensive play-calling and Mason when Matt Canada was fired. He was not renewed because they had already brought in a new QB coach a year earlier.

When reporting on the Saul signing with the Steelers, the columnist described Boswell as 'prickly.' Never heard that before ... would you agree with that assessment? Has he been a problem in interviews?
Gerry Dulac
11:38
No I don't. He just prefers not to talk. I like the guy. He talks to me.
epiballo
11:39
Steeler options at QB1 seems to be 1) Rodgers, 2) Cousins, and 3) Rudolph. How much difference will it make and who is your preference? I'm fine with Rudolph, but then, I'm just a fan.
Gerry Dulac
11:39
After all this, it probably needs to be Rodgers, which I wouldn't have said in February. And didn't.
Ryan from Ohio
11:40
With the free agent signings and the draft class prospects are there any glaring holes on the roster outside of QB?  I thought the organization did a good job this offseason.
Gerry Dulac
11:40
I agree.

11:40
Hi Gerry, I thought the draft was solid, seems like you feel the same or close to it, were there any picks that surprised you, or you thought a different position should've been addressed?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
No, it went almost exactly the way I was told it might go. Only mild surprise was taking a NT instead of a QB at No. 5. But I get why they did it and turned out to be something for which I've advocated for a while -- draft two D-linemen.

11:42
What is a realistic bar for success with the Will Howard pick; QB 2 for the next 3-5 years and goes .500 when he is called upon to play?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
Let's get to training camp first
Jim Bow Dean
11:42
There were conflicting reports on how the visit with Sanders went. Given they passed on him multiple times, can we assume it didn’t go well.
Gerry Dulac
11:42
I was told it went well. Anything else just wasn't the case.
