Right on both counts. I thought it might have been better to wait for a desperate team, but it should just go to show how much they no longer wanted to tolerate his antics/behavior

Good morning, Gerry. Thank you for the great chats! Obviously, the Steelers are loading up for the 2026 draft. I do like how they are getting rid of these me-first players. Now, maybe in the future, stop drafting them!
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Hey MR, stop with the good questions. But, yeah, the coach is the one who's drafting them

Hello Gerry Happy Wednasday! After Trading Pickens and this draft. How do you feel about this team? Does Aaron Rodgers move the needle? Is going to be a transition season?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
If Rodgers agrees, maybe 10-7. But probably 9-8.

Let’s define “the Mason Rudolph treament” as when a QB gets buried on the depth chart and never gets a real shot at starting. It looks like Kenny Pickett just got the Mason Rudolph treatment in Cleveland. It also looks like Will Howard is being set up to be the new Mason Rudolph in Pittsburgh. What advice can you give to Kenny and Will?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
To Kenny: No rash decisions. To Will: Consult with Mason

Now that I have my tickets for the Open, what holes do I target to watch from?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
4 green, 5 tee shot, 8 green all right there together. On the back, around 17 green, 18 tee, can see 15 fairway and maybe even 16 green if you move a little

We have yet another WR hole to fill, I feel like we are living in groundhogs day with this team. The timing of this trade is ever so curious.. Do you feel there is a plan in place to replace Pickens? Just can't imagine the steelers going into yet another season with a huge gap between WR1 & WR2 again.
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Roman Wilson is part of the plan. But the season is a long way off Josh. Time to still make moves

What was all that, no sense trading him now talk, eh?

Silly huh?

Hi Gerry:  Thanks again for the chats.   Selling Pickens today for the Dallas third-round pick appears an act of desperation.  It’s going to be in the 80s.  They had the whole year to bargain for a two if they wanted to let him go.  Does this mean Rodgers told the Steelers he is going to retire, nothing left to entice him?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
A two?? What makes you think a team would give up a 2? Because the desperate, ridiculous Bears did it with Claypool? Do you think the Bears learned their lesson?? I'll remind again -- Antonio Brown fetched a fifth-round pick

How would you grade Arthur Smith’s first season — A, B, C, D?  Why?

There is not one explanation of why trading Pickens now makes any sense.  They needed to trade him now and be in the same spot for WR room they were in last year. This is a complete joke.  If you tell me the plan is they are trading for Jamar Chase next, sure this makes sense.  Please make it make sense. DK Metcalf may realize soon enough about the circus he just joined.
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Yes, his behavior was too much for the coaches and the players. It became intolerable for all.

Pickett was the Steelers #1 pick.
Is Tomlin lost in the weeds?
College performance.
Kenny Pickett final 2 years, record 17-5, comp 64%, TD 55 INT. 16
Will Howard , final 2 years, record 22-6, comp 67%, TD 59 INT.20

And your point is....?

11:22
Obvious question: Will the Steelers sign another receiver off the street or practice squad? Do they really think/hope that they have a viable replacement for Pickens on the roster? Will Metcalf be as frustrated and disgruntled as Pickens has been?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Nobody can replicate Pickens' behavior

Hello Gerry with a "G". I believe the steelers are going to behind the usual suspects and the chargers, broncos and the Pats this season. I saw growth in the chargers and broncos last season and the Pats are coming back too. This puts, in my opinion, the steelers as the 9th best team in the AFC. Thoughts ?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
Hey RJ with an R, you had me until you mentioned the Pats

Who will the Steelers sign to replace Pickens?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
TBD...if they do

11:25
Gerry, with the trade of Pickens who is the #2 receiver now.  I was somewhat optimistic with Metcalf & Pickens with Rodgers throwing & thinking we may be able to score some points this year but now it seems it is going to be a repeat of last year.
Gerry Dulac
11:25
JJ, I hear ya there. That's still to be determined.

I’m sure the Cowboys is a place where Pickens will learn patience, humility, and self control. Either there or Cleveland.laughing
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Of course he will.

Good morning Gerry.  Once again the adults in the room have prevailed and we won't have to deal with an immature, unpredictable player at a key position anymore.  While he had some moments of brilliance, ultimately the net value for him was negative with all of the antics and inability to focus on the job.  Who do you project as the starting wideouts and slot receiver on opening day?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Old coach to me years ago: When the production outweighs the aggravation, you keep them. When the aggravation outweighs the production, you get rid of them.

A bit surprised the Steelers traded him after the draft but it looks like 1.) they want more picks to be able to move up next year 2.) They wanted to be done with him.
Gerry Dulac
11:29
Bingo!
OSU Dave
11:29
Do you think the Steelers should have received a higher draft pick than third round for Pickens?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Nope. I mean, what's he done to merit a higher pick??
Guest
11:30
jerry, don't you think pickens is better than claypool? if so why only a 3rd round pick, i think the steelers got stiffed !
Gerry Dulac
11:31
One doesn't have ANYTHING to do with the other. Not everybody is as foolish as the Bears. Especially in the offseason (not counting free agency)

So now the Steelers have the same problem as last year, which is no true #2 WR.  Is Wilson or Austin the plan for #2?  Or does Omar have something else up his sleeve?
