You have stated that Trubiski’s game versus the Ravens was the best quarterbacked game last year. How do you justify that when he threw 3 picks inside scoring position in a close loss? Know he s numbers were good that game but don’t the pics trump the positive?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
No I didn't. I said it was Carolina and Tampa Bay games. Your recollection is as good as your questions

Do people not realize that if the Steelers got rid of MT, that probably 20-25 teams would be knocking on his door to hire him?  I love the consistency & manner in which the Steelers do business!
Gerry Dulac
10:08
It might be more than that

For the first time that I can remember, it looks like the Ravens receiver group might be better than the Steelers. The Ravens did some nice things in FA and the draft. The Steelers only added Robinson, although Austin could be a wild card in all of this. How do you compare the two groups?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
I think you are sadly mistaken. I don't need to compare them

Hi Gerry, looking at the Steelers' draft and many changes on the defense this off season, I'm concerned over the sheer number of changes, both FA signings and the many departures.  On paper, there appear to be some upgrades but also a loss of experienced players.  Can this magnitude of change really improve things, or is it potentially a case of shuffling the chairs on the Titanic?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Change happens all the time in the NFL. The Steelers are right in line with the league average. Read..... https://www.post-gazette.com/sports/steelers/2023/05/19/pittsburgh-ste...

The FO has made a lot of moves this off season but will it have that much of an impact.  Mostly average or older players maybe some depth at positions.  The move most needed replacing the OC was ignored.  Hard to figure Mr Rooney.  Content with mediocrety as he keeps selling out.  You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all the people all the time.
Gerry Dulac

Never heard that expression before.

10:10
Does the new 3rd quarterback rule mean that Mason Rudolph will dress for every game this year?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Yes
Bill
10:11
What are the Steelers looking for to fill the RB3 role, and who do you predict will win the spot?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I think that's what they are trying to find out. Training camp will tell the tale
MTScott
10:12
Do you think KP will be allowed to audible this year based upon the play called vs defensive look?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
Knowing Matt Canada, I'm guessing no
MTScott
10:12
Will Calvin Austin be priority 1 for both punt & kickoff returns?
Gerry Dulac
10:12
I don't know if he's priority 1, but I'm sure he will be given a long look for sure. They'd be crazy not to.
Bill
10:13
Can you predict the Wide Receiver group that makes the 53 man roster please?
Gerry Dulac
10:13
DJ, Pickens, Austin, Robinson, Boykin and, well, let's wait and see

Gerry,......in this years NFL Draft guide [Ourlads] still the best in the business, had a Defensive Line/Edge player listed as a 2nd or 3rd round player.  I did not see this guy drafted by any team or picked up as a UFA by any team.  His name is ANDRE CARTER from ARMY.  Do you have any idea where he went?  I thought his ARMY colors would translate well into STEELER colors.   Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
10:14
I liked him, too ....  a good fit for the Steelers. But I thought someone took him. No??

Hello. Thank you as always for the chat. Do you know why Steelers release Arthur Maulet, considering they are relatively thin at that position , even with the addition of Sullivan?  If I am correct , he was on the minimum salary anyway . Do you expect them to add someone ? Thank you very much.
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I think they thought Chandon Sullivan was better in coverage. Maulet's a nice player along the line of scrimmage -- tough, hard-nosed

Gerry, your thoughts on P Harvin being the punter for the 2023 season. I think it’s time to go another direction. He’s as inconsistent as my golf game but I’m 69 with multiple back surgeries and I don’t get paid.
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Haha...he is inconsistent, to be sure. But I don't see a change coming. Maybe not even in your golf game lol.

Hello Gerry, having both Mitch and Mason resigned, do you think Tanner Morgan makes it to the practice squad or does he end up getting cut?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
It's unlikely, but you never know. I don't see them keeping four QBs around, even one on the practice squad.

10:16
As a Big 10 fan, I've watched Tanner Morgan several times and he looks like a guy who could make a living on Sundays. If he really lights it up in camp, can you envision a trade of a vet QB to a desperate team if the price is right and Morgan making the 53 as QB3?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
First off, they are not trading one of their backups, especially not Trubisky. And they would merely cut Rudolph if that were the case. Problem is, is Morgan even going to get much of a look at camp in the preseason. The guy they drafted on the seventh round last year never got a sniff at camp.

Hate the constant use or reference of kids. Maybe just a pet peeve but am 66 years old. No kid left in me !!

GM Gerry! I know is football in shorts season but what is the greatest difference you see in this team compared with last year’s
Gerry Dulac

Too early. Shorts. Shorts

How hard does TJ Watt's impact make it to accurately judge Highsmith's worth? When Watt is off the field, Highsmith seems goodish, not great. When Watt is on the field, Highsmith looks really good. Could you plug in most OLBs on the opposite side of Watt and automatically make them a  8- to 10-sack guy?
Gerry Dulac
10:20
I get your point. Highsmith is a very good bookend with Watt, especially against the run. If you haven't noticed, he sets the edge and plays the run better than 90.

Previous question from last week regarding undrafted free agents and possibly a position group where a player like Warren that you predicted last year shined.  Anyone catching your eye this year Gerry?
Gerry Dulac

I'll wait till I get to Saint Vincent.

What are you hearing from the team regarding Trice? It appears they have a lot of hope for him as they continue to shed veteran CB's.

Here's what I'm already seeing -- he's big!!
