Ben came back for a SB run and now that it’s over why not turn to Rudolph and Haskins.  Evaluate the now and don’t waste next year doing it.  I’m 90% sure both don’t have it but nows the time.
Gerry Dulac
11:13
Hate to disappoint you -- that's not going to happen.

How would you rank the reasons for the Steelers inability to stop opponents dadgum running backs?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
1) Loss of Tuitt and Alualu 2) lack of quality depth behind them 3) ILBs who can't get off blocks because Tuitt and Alualu aren't there to occupy them 4) Bad gaps 5) Tackling.

Any chance Steelers can trade Tomlin for draft picks?

Do you feel the Steelers will be looking for a new punter for next year ?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
This one hasn't been as advertised

Hi Gerry! I'm usually the eternal optimist and chief defender of the Steelers but I have a bad feeling that we may see a total collapse the next few weeks. I hope I'm wrong but I wouldn't be shocked if they would lose out. Am I just going crazy?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
I can understand you going crazy after what you've witnessed the past three games. Maybe you should put the fourth quarter in LA on a loop and watch that to ease your demeanor.

Do you think it would be a mistake to draft a quarterback with a high pick before the line is improved. Alot of promising rookie quarterbacks got shell shocked and never developed.
Gerry Dulac
11:19
I don't know if there is one out there right now they like. But, trust me, they will be on the watch.

Hi Gerry, why couldn't coach T just bench Ben after the half @Cincy? He mentioned personnel changes this week, do you think he would do it if they struggle again vs Baltimore?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Now that would be a headline grabber if he did. But I'm not anticipating it.

Hi Gerry, Will there be a day that AR forces MT to use the DC for calling the defense? Why have a DC if MT is going to call the plays? Thanks

Hi Gerry, I understand that we still have a chance to make playoffs but even if we do I think most agree a run is unlikely. That said, and I know you've long supported Ben playing for lack of a better option and I don't disagree, but would it not now, if ever, be wise to see for an extended period what both Mason and Haskins have to evaluate if they can provide acceptable play next year so we don't have to reach in a draft of underwhelming QB prospects. I understand Ben deserves respect for all he's done but the fans and the organization also deserve to have time to assess.

I get your point, but, like I said, NFL coaches don't play for next year, especially not with six games remaining. They're trying to win, if for no other reason than their own personal gain/record. And, despite what we've seen, they are still a relevant playoff possibility. Not saying they will make it, but I've seen many a strange thing happen, especially so far this year in the NFL

Hi Gerry   The Steelers have maybe 3 players that would be ranked in the top ten at their position in the league , all on D.  Not sure this is Tomlins fault rather just a lack of overall talent, no ?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Agreed....for the most part

Why was 61 activated over 96 if he was not going to be used? Having Cam at NT was not working..why not move him back in game? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:26
That should tell you what they really think of 96.

Gerry Tomlin bristled when asked about Claypool practice music but this is a culture that he has turned his head from for years now!
Gerry Dulac
11:28
He didn't bristle at all. He was very matter of fact, basically saying "You worry about playing, I'll handle the coaching." I loved his response.

Gerry there is a serious lack of talent on this team. evennthough they have spent to the max cap limit every year? What gives?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
There is a serious lack of talent on both sides of the line of scrimmage (Cam excluded of course). And there are two rookies and a second-year first-time starter on the offensive line.
Paul
11:29
Does our offensive coordinator ever heard of an end around or double reverse
Gerry Dulac
11:29
I think we've seen enough of those jet-sweep type of plays. They don't win games, just lose yards.

11:29
Hey Gerry, it seems the Steelers are drowning in confusion, borderline dissention, secrecy and question marks off the field. Has management lost this team? Is it time to start focusing on next year?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
No. No. And there is no dissension.
FC
11:30
Also time to bench #55 until he's 100%.  If they claim he's 100% now, then it's time to move on , agree?  The back ups on the roster right now couldn't be any worse.
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Actually, they are worse, except for Spillane, and he's out.
MeatMaster
11:30
What is up with James Washington? Is Ben not looking his way?  Is he not getting open?  1 catch for 3 yards last week!
Gerry Dulac
11:31
Uh, what has he done in four years that's any different this year? He doesn't get attention because his play doesn't demand it. How about trying to get open? Or win combat catches?

11:32
Do you get the sense from covering this team day in and day out that they recognize how deficient they are in talent across so many positions and that it's going to take a few drafts and endure some tough seasons before they can realistically compete for a division? Or have they convinced themselves that they're just a player or two away even though they're not?  As a fan, I can put up with some down years to build a really good team. But being mediocre year in and year out is almost as bad as always losing.
Gerry Dulac
11:35
Actually, I think a lot of teams, maybe most teams, are just a player or two away in this league. And, c'mon, it hasn't been that bad. They were 12-4 and won the division last year. I know the end was a disaster, but all I'm saying is it could be a lot worse. And it's nowhere near that. And, with five losses, they're just one loss behind every top team in the AFC, except the Ravens. I'm not saying they're good, I'm just saying it's not THAT bad.
FC
11:35
When is Tomlin going to 'release hell'?  Oh, that's right, he has, and as fans, we are in hell!  Time to move on from he whole coaching staff and about 70% of the roster and rebuild.

What do you think of Claypool wanting music at practice so it is more fun?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
I think he needs to be told this is the NFL and not college. This is a business, a job, not fun and games.
Jesse G
11:36
Steelers clearly need to rebuild their trench game. OL and DL should be top priority via draft and free agency that’s obvious and hopefully they do. What about position coaches Gerry, do you think they should also make changes there this off-season? If yes then who?
