That's another good point. The Wolves should be good for a very long time.

With the Topic pic, are the Thunder playing the long game while also building a current championship contender?
ARTHUR HILL
9:54
Yes, OKC might have the smartest front office in the league. They know how to evaluate talent and they're really good at managing the draft. Topic is a long-term asset who can take as long as he needs to recover from his ACL injury and it won't affect the Thunder at all next season.

The Topic pic reminds me of what Denver did with Michael Porter Jr. Great pick by Thunder
ARTHUR HILL
9:58
That's a good comparison. Porter might have been the top pick in 2019 if not for his severe back condition. The Nuggets were the first team willing to take a chance, and he wound up helping them win a title. Topic is in a similar situation. He's an undervalued talent because of his injury.

Dalton is sitting in the green room and only one more pick to go are the Lakers about to get a steal?
ARTHUR HILL
10:00
It feels like a steal. Knecht was considered a top 10 pick in a lot of mock drafts. His shooting gives him a legitimate NBA skill, and he'll be playing for a head coach who had a long career as a shooting specialist.

I get Buzelis was projected to be a higher pick, but Bulls desperately need shooting - seems like a bad fit. Also, how does the pick affect Patrick Williams’ future?
ARTHUR HILL
10:02
I still think they'll re-sign Williams, rather than leaning too heavily on Buzelis right away. It could make him expendable in a year or two. I see Buzelis as a good value pick regardless of team needs. The Bulls can try to find a shooter or two in free agency or the trade market.

Just another example of why I'm one of the greatest executives of all times I mean Ware falls right in our laps and he fillls so many needs
ARTHUR HILL
10:07
Combine that with Bam Adebayo's extension, and the Heat should be set at center for a long time. They can move on to fixing the rest of the roster. It was probably an easy choice once they saw Ware was still on the board.

I really like my Grizz picking up Edey. I like his size, his work ethic and the fact that he has shown marked improvement every year. We needed a decent big.
ARTHUR HILL
10:09
You can't teach size. Edey will be a good rim deterrent, rebounder and screen setter and he frees up Jaren Jackson Jr. to spend more time at power forward. They wanted Clingan, but getting Edey without giving up any assets might be a good consolation prize.
Brad Stevens
10:09
I just looked at the order for the second round and I see Boston picks right before the Lakers.  Do we do the ultimate baller move and draft a certain player before the Lakers can
ARTHUR HILL
10:10
I think that certain player will be off the board by then, but that could be the most dramatic second-round moment in NBA draft history.
Pels
10:11
Are the pels going to make any trades ?
ARTHUR HILL
10:13
We're getting close to their pick, so we'll find out soon. Their only immediate need is at center if Jonas Valanciunas leaves, and the best big men are already off the board. This year's draft has suffered from a lack of trades. We need someone to spice things up.
KJ
10:14
With New York giving up so many picks I'm assuming they're going to utilize their picks tonight so what do you think they'll do I would assume center might be on the cards since I don't think Isaiah is going to be back because they gave OG the max
ARTHUR HILL
10:16
The trade for Bridges and the new deal with Anunoby mean Hartenstein is probably gone. Yves Messi from Baylor is the best man available, so keep an eye on him if he lasts until 24.
KJ
10:18
That's kind of a lot of undersized guards for Sacramento Mitchell monk Carter how do you see that playing out
ARTHUR HILL
10:21
Fox, Monk and Carter will see most of the playing time. Mitchell will probably join Kevin Huerter and Harrison Barnes as trade assets.
George
10:22
With LeBron, PG13, Jimmy Butler, Mikal Bridges, and OG Anunoby off the board or close to it as 76ers additions, who are the most likely additions the 76ers will add?
ARTHUR HILL
10:24
I wouldn't give up on Paul George yet. Philadelphia is still his best option if he doesn't reach an extension with the Clippers. Jimmy Butler might be available too, regardless of what the Heat are saying publicly. After that, maybe it's Brandon Ingram, who's at least a proven scorer to team with Embiid and Maxey.
10:28
Finally another trade. The Nuggets are moving up to 22 to take DaRon Holmes, giving them a young backup to Nikola Jokic. Phoenix gets 28, 56 and two second-rounders in return, and saves a little bit of money by trading down.
Wolves
10:30
Shepard and a few of those Suns picks for Towns?
ARTHUR HILL
10:33
I don't think the Wolves are looking to move Towns, at least not yet. They're coming off their best season since he's been in Minnesota and they have a good chance to stay in contention by keeping the roster intact. This is the kind of move the Rockets eventually hope to make, though, packaging the Phoenix picks and some of their young talent to land a star.

Surprised Holland went this early to Detroit. All the mock drafts had him dropping.
ARTHUR HILL
10:34
It was a complete surprise, and it caused a few other highly rated players to slide down the draft board. I can't wait to hear Trajan Langdon's explanation.

10:36
Expect any of the early draft picks to be traded quickly?
ARTHUR HILL
10:37
Not really. Trades like that are usually in place by draft night. The only exception is if a team like the Lakers or Heat go star hunting and have to include their first-round picks to get a deal done.
10:38
Another pick for the Wizards. Woj says New York is trading No. 24 to Washington.

It seemed to me that Denver felt the pressure to trade up for Daron Holmes to step in front of the Knicks
ARTHUR HILL
10:41
That's very likely. You had two teams that were after the same position, and that's what causes a lot of draft-night trades. It will be interesting to see what the Knicks do with 25.
Bunk
10:42
Any players you are surprised haven't been picked yet?
ARTHUR HILL
10:43
I thought someone would take a chance on Isaiah Collier by now. It doesn't seem that long ago that he was projected as the top pick. I'll be even more surprised if he's still on the board in the second round.

Do you think Spurs activity in this draft give an indication they’re collecting assets for a bigger trade in FA? Murray return, or even Trae?
ARTHUR HILL
10:47
It's odd that they didn't address their need for shooting. Their GM talked about their poor three-point percentage, but their only draft pick was Stephon Castle. It seems like they must be planning a major move.

Any insight on what the Bucks are doing here? Given their coach and timeline it’s hard to think of a worse landing spot for one of the most raw prospects in the draft.
ARTHUR HILL
10:49
No, they have a win-now roster and they need players who can contribute right away. The guy I liked for them was Virginia's Ryan Dunn, who would have solved their need for perimeter defense.
Knicks rule

Why don’t the players from France play college ball instead of playing at home? Is it the money? Seems like they would enhance their draft status although it doesn’t appear it’s hurting them
