Maybe keep playing him and expect him to play better? Sounds insane, I know. (Nice name. Like it.)

2:17
Bonino and Hagelin options or pass???
Jason Mackey
2:17
Pass.
Amy
2:17
Why do the Pens offer little player attended events to season ticket holders ? Other hold carnivals with all players in attendance even in original six markets. Cancelled skate either greats, Ymca signing and only have one paid event (cost $$$$$)with all players
Jason Mackey
2:18
If you have an issue with how the Penguins treat season-ticket holders, Amy, I would encourage you to contact them. That's not our department here.

What would you name the Seattle franchise? Asking for a friend...
Jason Mackey
2:18
Sasquatch. And I wouldn't think twice.
Andy
2:18
Could you see Hagelin signing back in Pittsburgh on a more team friendly contract this offseason?
Jason Mackey
2:18
Nah, I think someone else will pay him, and the Penguins need to skew younger and cheaper at what Hagelin does.
Big Load
2:18
If the Pens win the Stanley Cup, will they request fast food?
Jason Mackey
2:18
Ha. No. Nobody would eat it. You think Sid or Letang eats at McDonald's? C'mon.

Is there ever a time where the media hypes up a trade(brassard) and nothing happens?
Jason Mackey
2:19
"Media hypes" ... I like that. Like we're promoting a boxing match or something instead of writing about what (apparently) a lot of people have said.
Jeff Kam
2:19
I haven't seen the name Artem Anisimov anywhere in trade discussions, in spite of the fact that the Blackhawks have virtually no shot at the playoffs. Shouldn't the Hawks be interested in Brassard and Jarry?
Jason Mackey
2:19
Not if they're out of the playoffs. Why bother? Sell your assets off for the future, not a pending UFA who ain't gonna re-sign with you.

Thanks for the amazing work you do Jason, your articles and these chats are some of the best reading at the PG! Realistically, how many more years do you think Sid and Geno can/will play at a high level?
Jason Mackey
2:20
Hey Sarah. Thanks for the kind words. Enough that I don't think we need to start counting, to be honest. It'll be a while.
Sarah in PHL
2:20
What % would you say is a work stoppage likely and when would it happen based on the current CBA?
Jason Mackey
2:20
I think it's still too early to tell, to be honest. There's stuff changing pretty quickly right now.

Pens PP suffers considerably when Hornqvist is gone. Jake does his best but it still seems like a different team when he's not there.  Do you think teams are learning this and focus on it as a way to disrupt them?
Jason Mackey
2:21
No, I don't think it's breaking news what Hornqvist does on the PP or that the Penguins are better for it. They know what he's going to do. It's just a matter of taking him away, and that much is very difficult.

If the pens could land E. Staal or M. Ferland or Faska who do you take?
Jason Mackey
2:21
I would go with Eric Staal, honestly. Faksa might be the "right" fit, but Staal would be too much to pass up. For the record, I don't think it's possible. But it's intriguing to me, for sure.

RandomHockeyGuy is wrong. Blandisi has 14 more days of eligibility in which he can be sent down. He's been on an NHL roster for 16 days since clearing waivers. That's the flexibility Rutherford talked about.
Jason Mackey
2:22
Thanks, JohnAl. With the amount of questions, we're getting, I can't take the time to fact check everything. The point here is that Blandisi can likely clear -- whenever he has to -- easier than Grant..

Is Carl Hagelin an option on wing
Jason Mackey
2:22
I don't think so.
Brad
2:22
would you deal brass for andrew shaw?
Jason Mackey
2:22
No.
Andy
2:23
Do you think the team is concerned about the back end?  Against the better teams, they seem to struggle to get the puck out of our own end with control to give the elite forwards offensive opportunities.  Letang can make mistakes, but a lot of the time it is because he is actually trying to make something happen and not just dumping the puck off the glass and retreating.
Jason Mackey
2:23
I don't think so, no, Andy. I think they're very happy with their defensemen, other than having one too many.

non-brassard topic -- any talk of pittsburgh getting a NWHL team, with Pens support/partnering?  Would love to see it and seem like a good fit
Jason Mackey
2:24
Thank God. ... I'm talking with David Morehouse out here. I'm going to take his temperature on that. Please remind me next week. I didn't forget, but our chat, scheduled for L.A., got postponed.

The difference on Reaves v Wilson is that Wilson is praised for his ability as a callup guy. He's not a permanent member of the roster. Reaves was.
Jason Mackey
2:25
It's close to where they might consider Wilson a permanent part, JohnAl.

Hi,  Brassard is easily my least favorite Pen in decades.  Do you think this is a widespread opinion among the fan base?
Jason Mackey
2:25
No, I don't.

Anaheim and Winnipeg are constantly lauded for having spectacular draft and development programs.  Where, in your estimation, are the Pens in that regard?
Jason Mackey
2:26
I think the Penguins are criticized a lot for their drafts, and I think some of it is unfair, to be honest. In part because of their development program, which has actually brought along some pretty decent players (Dumoulin, Guentzel, Rust, etc.)

Do you think Sid and Geno will have their numbers retired by the organization? And sleeper picks (i.e. Letang)
