What's the team's view of Murray's performance? The numbers are below league-average, but the way the team's played in front of him would seem a big asterisk affixed to those stats.

Yeah, I think that's fair. I think Murray certainly has played better, but you gotta cut the kid some slack. They've had some really bad defensive efforts in front of him.

What's your take on Ryan Reaves?  I was a fan of the trade when it happened.  Didn't expect him to magically make cheap shots disappear by being dressed, but thought he could help the team.  It seems either he hasn't lived up to the skillset the Penguins thought he had, or Sullivan isn't keen on dressing him.  Based on production and usage, seems he should be more in a rotation rather than every game starter.

Wouldn't be a Thursday chat without Ryan Reaves questions. I like Reaves. I think he adds something to the team. I'd play him more 9-10 minutes. And if he sucked, then I'd bench him. And I'd have a clear reason why. I don't understand dressing a guy if you're going to play him 3-5 minutes. That's a wasted spot.

I think it's early. I don't think we need to worry about "turning it on" quite yet. They're working on their game, building it, correcting things.

I think there are odds, but I don't know how great. Don't know if Cole is enough of an incentive for someone to take that contract. Maybe the Oilers would be, with how much they need defensemen.

It's interesting, isn't it? You don't often remove the hot hand. I wouldn't call it a controversy. I think what they would do would be to be a little bit more free in how they used Murray. I.e, not a traditional starter/backup split.

Is there a chance the Pens make a deal to acquire a Top 6 winger? Crosby staying with Sheary and Hornqvist. Malkin with Rust and the new player and Kessel with Guentzel and a potential new 3C or Sheahan. Or is that type of deal not very likely for the Pens?
