How badly did the pirates mess up henry davis vs how off were they in their assessment with the pick? It’s shocking that he is being talked about as part of (not a 1 for 1 deal) trade that would net outfielder X who can hit .275 and drive in 75 runs.

I still don't think we know. I question how much of the real Henry Davis we've seen, because of injuries, being asked to play RF, etc. He has improved behind the plate. He's shown signs offensively. Just hasn't done it consistently enough.

Why not bring peguero up for Hayes? I think Hayes needs sent down or some time off to figure things out. Peguero showed some promise last year and hasn’t gotten a fair shake this year. Any chance we see him soon?

Peguero has a .700 OPS in the minors. That's the threshold for a promotion? And why are we doing that over someone who's signed long-term? I agree Hayes needs to be better. But Peguero, at a position he really doesn't play, isn't the answer.

I don’t want them to trade for Chisholm. Played more than 100 games in a season once, so he’s injury prone and not even that good to begin with.

How long are we going to watch multiple guys at the bottom of the lineup bat around or below .200? And why doesn’t guys like Gorski and Delay get chances? I’m so sick of watching Grandal be awful.

I can't give you an answer. I know you're just venting. But I'm not sure Gorski & Delay are the answer to their offensive woes. I think we'll see Delay at some point post-deadline. Would imagine they're trying to get something for Grandal, which I'd be stunned if it happened.

I don't think so on corner. Between Beanie Bishop and Cam Sutton (eventually), sure seems like they're going to make due in the slot. Wide receiver, I do believe they'll bring someone in. Would love if it's Aiyuk, though I don't think it will be.

Boy, I sure hope so. And thank you for the Penguins question. I'd love to see them get a project forward who can slot into the top-six. Potentially someone who could play on the left side with Sid. I like Drew O'Connor and what he did last season, but I still think that's a weakness.

Jason, in your opinion if the pirates could sign rooker from oakland, he would most likely be the dh as his defense is said to be bad. If that were the case would that just about do it for mccutchen here? Love the guy but to be honest you can’t have a dh batting 220 leading off with hardly any speed if you want to be a contender. I think it’s time to move on from Andrew after this season. Also do you think not wanting to hurt mccutchens feelings impact if they would even try to make a move like that?

Yeah, I think that's a consideration. It's why I don't love the fit. And if you don't DH Rooker, you're playing him or Cutch in the outfield, which isn't great. Given all Cutch has done here, I don't think he deserves to go out like that -- essentially getting pushed out the door.

It's been a chronic problem and has hampered him. They should be concerned and have been concerned. But I think there's more going on right now with him than his back.

I’m sure you heard the rumor of the bednar Mayo (Baltimore) top prospect trade this week. Although it probably wasn’t on the table, if this trade was in fact an offer would you accept? I think it’d be foolish not to make that trade just cuz the guys from Pittsburgh which is how it sounded. Yes he’s a good closer but closers are more expendable than a potential star who could fill in at first or third, two positions of need right now

Call me crazy, but I think the Pirates should be looking for 2 bats (preferably OF) not just 1.  It would be great to land a Jazz Chisholm, but I would love to see Chisholm AND like a Bleday or even Rooker.

Hi Jason - where do you think management stands in regards to Jared Triolo?  I feel like he hit all through college and minors and too early to not stick with him as part of bucco future. He does too many things that equate to winning in my opinion.

They like him a lot. And I think they're willing to give him some time to figure it out. I also get it. If he's your 26th man, totally fine with that. He has legit versatility. But he needs to hit.
