To secure those three years, though, you pay the extension price starting year 3

12:17
charlie & Bob feel like 3rd wheels here... can we go... someplace more intimate?
William Lloyd
12:17
Sorry Mr. Kelly, but I'm busy
And too old for you
chaosintejas
12:18
clarification -- you can actually extend them for 1, 2, or 3 years tho, correct?
William Lloyd
12:18
Correct
Or no years at all
charlie finklestein (after dark)
12:18
this better?
William Lloyd
12:18
Lets stay focused

Mike asked a question last week of me. Will we have a point of no return date for cuts. Right now, rules as written, you could make cuts the last day of the season and not suffer any penalty because you take your cap hit that day and then the next day the season is over
12:20
I will talk to Nick about this. Trade deadline is 8/1. We may have a cut deadline where, if you make a cut after that date, the cut will count against next year's books too at the next year's %
chaosintejas
12:20
first owner to get to picks = $
William Lloyd
12:20
Thats the intent of the MiLB draft. Get potential good talent for dirt cheap. These picks matter
12:22
That being said, Nick and I have also been theorycrafting how many 2019 ready guys you want. Remember, they can stay on the Minor roster but will not accrue points. If you want to be effective you will need to have MiLB eligible players on your 25 man to make a swap or will make cuts if all your MiLB are 2019 guys
chaosintejas
12:22
i like the idea of a cut deadline, but i'd make spring training or something... my 2c
William Lloyd
12:23
Yeah, it's something we need to discuss. Too soon and you suddenly have a lot of red ink on your 2020 ledger. Too late...problem still persists
chaosintejas
12:23
and sorry, i was asking for your best guess as to which owner blows their dough first (where spening all of your $ really means getting to where you have the same remaining $ as remaining picks)
William Lloyd
12:23
Says they guy who spent $200 on Mazara in the mock
12:24
One take away I took from the draft is later rounds become real dicey if you spend too much up front. Still lots of good players for your 10-16 spots and if you blow your cash on 4 big acquisitions to start...that could suck
But there is stars and scrubs as a valid strategy...but that is a big gamble, especially in a dynasty league
Robert
12:24
what happens if an owner blows his wad on higher draft picks?
William Lloyd
12:24
See above comment
12:25
And get a really good 2019 ready dude with that pick if you can
chaosintejas
12:25
worth every phantom cent
William Lloyd
12:25
Yeah. Just be careful
OH AND STAY AWAY FROM THE QUICK BID BUTTON
IT WILL HOSE YOU
Robert
12:25
*hands Will a glass of sherry* shall i slip into something more comfortable?
William Lloyd
12:25
Gah, we're still on this line of jokes
chaosintejas
12:26
Hot take: QUICK BID BUTTON is the new Moneyball
William Lloyd
12:26
In that you draft Acuna for $56 in money and say, "Balls..."
chaosintejas
12:27
[checks list] I have Acuna at $119
William Lloyd
12:27
Everyone has their strategy
nick
12:28
Rougned Odor: $30.3
William Lloyd
12:28
That's just a little north of my projected value
topline
12:29
Let's talk about cuts
If you cut a player, a % of their salary will stay on your books for the rest of the season
12:30
*pending a cut penalty date as discussed earlier*
Each year you own a player the less painful that % is
