what would it take to pry Gunner Henderson from Bal?
Darragh McDonald
4:45
Off the top of my head, I'd say you're looking at a Boesky, a Jim Brown, a Miss Daisy, two Jethros and a Leon Spinks, not to mention the biggest Ella Fitzgerald ever.
I don't think Gunnar is available.
Teoscar Hernández
4:46
Do you think the Ms give him a QO in advance of free agency?
Darragh McDonald
4:46
I do, yeah. And I think he'll turn it down.
4:47
He had a bit of a disappointing year, but the free agent class is light on impact bats so he'll probably get a strong deal somewhere.

4:47
Kelenic an extension candidate?
Darragh McDonald
4:47
A candidate for extending his foot into a cooler?
4:48
I would be skeptical for now. He had a decent year but the strikeouts are still a concern.
Jerry
4:48
Should Seattle sell high on Brash and/or Munoz?
Darragh McDonald
4:49
In a vacuum, I generally like selling high on relievers. But the Graveman and Sewald deals both led to some clubhouse bitterness, so I think they probably won't do it again for a bit.

Alright, lets try something that's not gonna pull an Ocean's 11 quote.  What would it take to pry Randy Arozarena from TB?
Darragh McDonald
4:50
Randy is more plausible than Gunnar. The Rays aren't shy about trading arbitration guys.
4:51
He would still take a really strong package though. Projected salary of $9MM and two more years of control after that.
That's the kind of player Tampa will likely move at some point, maybe this winter or next?
Ryan
4:51
For some reason I can't shake the idea of a Seattle/St Louis deal. Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Gorman to Seattle for some pitching other prospects and Ty France.
Darragh McDonald
4:52
Goldy has full no-trade but a Mariners-Cardinals deal makes sense otherwise.
Tommy Edman? Brendan Donovan? Someone like that, probably.

Why do you think France will be better next year? I’ve seen him strike out or hit into double plays to often. Why keep him
Darragh McDonald
4:53
France actually has a low strikeout rate. League average usually 23% or so. His rate has been around 15-17% over the past three years.
His issue this year was a drop in homers. 20 in 2022, just 12 this year.
4:54
The reason I think he'll bounce back is that his batted ball data doesn't support that drop. Hard hit rate actually went up from 36.3% to 38.4%.
Average exit velo essentially steady, went from 87.6mph to 87.5.
max EV went up.

Can you see Seattle making a trade with San Diego for one of Tatis or Soto? Would an offer of Kelenic, Woo, Young and a PTBNL get that done?
Darragh McDonald
4:57
Tatis has a no-trade clause.
I don't think Soto is available now. Maybe at the deadline if the Padres fall out of contention again.

4:58
Given the Ohtani injury, what do you expect his market value to be? Has it decline substantially or minimally?
Darragh McDonald
4:59
He's still going to get a record-breaking contract. Even if he never pitches again, he's one of the best hitters in the league.
But he probably will pitch again in some fashion. That gives up an upside that someone like, say, Judge doesn't have.
5:00
Plus, he's a huge international star. Part of the contract will pay for itself via ticket sales, merch sales, etc. He's gonna get paid.
Darragh likes McDonalds?
5:00
If Soler opts out, would he be a good fit for the outfield? 3 years at say… 45 mil?
Darragh McDonald
5:00
Yeah, something like that makes sense to me.
5:01
He's a better fit for DH than a full-time outfield role, but the M's need a bat like that.
Derek
5:01
Does Ty get traded or non tendered? I think he has too much value to just be non tendered
Darragh McDonald
5:02
I don't see him as a non-tender candidate. Like I said, I think he bounces back.
Jerry
5:03
Who are the 5 rotation starters at the start of next season?
Darragh McDonald
5:03
I'll say Castillo, Kirby, Gilbert, Gonzales, Miller.
