O's have tons of infielders, which the Marlins need.

ST Pete will be fine down the road. They are developing the area and the Rays will avg over 20k 2-5 yrs from today.
Darragh McDonald
4:47
This is what I have heard from the Rays organization. I don't know the area well enough to know if that's true. I will be interested to see it.
Ivan Herrera
4:48
Who am I being traded for? Garrett maybe?
Darragh McDonald
4:48
Garrett has more trade value than Herrera right now but other pieces could make it work. It's a solid framework.

Is Cease a realistic option to fill in the rotation? What would it take to get him
Darragh McDonald
4:49
As far as I know, the White Sox are planning to try again in 2024. If that's the case, they can't give up on Cease because he's their only good starter right now.
4:50
They need to change their mind for him to become available, or fall out of the race again next year.

Darragh: Good afternoon. Who are the top two candidates on the Marlins wishlist for the front office?
Darragh McDonald
4:51
We don't even know who is running the front office!
But the answer is Amed Rosario and Gary Sanchez.

What’s behind the Sherman/Ng fiasco?  What really happened?  And why did she refuse to interview with the Red Sox?  Does she have a job lined up that we’re not aware of?
Darragh McDonald
4:52
She might just want to take a year off. That's not unusual for front office people.
Or maybe she wants a less-demanding position.
I saw an interview with Jon Daniels today, who used to run the Rangers and now works a different job for the Rays.
4:53
He said he turned down the Sox just because he's spending lots of time at home with his kids.
Having the top job isn't always the most appealing option, depending where a person is in life.

Do you have a sense that the marlins will need to rely on trades more than free agency to attract talent to Miami?
Darragh McDonald
4:53
Well, they haven't really spent a lot of money, so yes.
Guards Fan
4:54
If the fish need a SS the Guards have about 40 major league ready ones.  Match up for a RH outfielder?

Bryan De La Cruz, pack your bags.

Darragh: Does Max Meyer factor in 2024?
Darragh McDonald
4:55
He should be a factor, sure, but it's hard to know the degree.
4:56
He tossed 111 innings in the minors in 2021, then 67 in 2022, none this year due to the rehab.
He'll definitely be on some kind of workload limit.

Run differential doesn't mean much Darragh. Look at the teams in the WS.
Darragh McDonald
4:57
Run differential correlates with winning in the long-term. Wacky things can definitely happen in small samples, you're right.

Before Fish fans get too excited, is there even any suggestion that the Cards are wanting to part with Herrera?
Darragh McDonald
4:58
Well, they want to add three starting pitchers this winter, so they probably have to trade something.
Moving Herrera would make some sense since they have Willson and Knizner.

just read someone ask if twins would make Royce Lewis or Brooks Lee available? Dont think twins would make either available when it seems history has indicated twins have always prefered to hang on to Royce Lewis and Brooks Lee type. Would polanco or kepler be available? was reading that twins would hang on to them and see how several rookies play before making a decision
Darragh McDonald
5:00
I can see Polanco being available since they are starting to have an infield logjam. Lewis, Correa, Julien, Lee, Kirilloff.
5:01
Polanco hasn't really played shortstop as a regular since 2020 though.
He could push Arraez to first but you'd still need to find a shortstop.
Kepler is a fine fit for the Fish.

Could Tigers Trade SS Baez to Marlins ?
Darragh McDonald
5:02
I bet the Tigers would love to do that.
5:03
He was pretty terrible this year and is still owed $98MM over the next four.

Should the Marlins consider selling off short-term players and looking towards 2025?
Darragh McDonald
5:05
I think that would be tough. Mets should be better by then. Atlanta and Philly will still be good. Nats might even be done rebuilding.
