why isnt bubba chandler in the show yet ?
Brent Hershey

Easy to say "Because ... Pirates", but every team does this. We can never know what their internal reasoning is. Totally agree that from our perspective, he looks ready. But timing the callup is a guess.

McGreevey or Blubaugh ROS?  In a keeper league?
Brent Hershey
12:31
McGreevy ROS (more middle of rotation guy, but stable, and likely to pitch more innings in 2025).
Blubaugh (better stuff, more Ks, higher ceiling) long-term.

Another thing to consider with Jake Burger is that he and his wife's baby was born last October with Down syndrome. It would be understandable if Jake's mind isn't fully focused on baseball right now.
Brent Hershey
12:32
Absolutely; was not aware of this.

Hi Brent! I read the F/F writeup on Mize with interest--the gist of which was, his peripherals look pretty much the same as last year's. But, also: "He is throwing more splitters and slurves and fewer fastballs, resulting in a higher SwK that should lead to more strikeouts." Watching him this year, that seems to me to be the difference. Without knowing just what goes into, e.g., xERA are pitch-mix changes something that HQ's metric would capture?
Brent Hershey

Like most projection systems, ours can't account for things like that ahead of time of course — and then the question becomes how much of a sample is needed to justify the change as "real" and then move the projection? But that's exactly why we ask writers/analysts to pay attention to those things and (when appropriate) bring them out in the narrative. And when those insights align with what I'm seeing with my own eyes, that edges me towards something that's actionable.

Brent! Give Jasson D more time or cut bait (12 tmr)?
Brent Hershey
12:37
More time, but def getting closer to moving on in a 12.

Mikolas! Weak opponents or new aresenal?
Brent Hershey
12:40
More sliders, less sinkers, so new arsenal, I guess? I mean, he's still a 36-year-old with declining velo and a 4.66/1.34, so ... needs to be a pretty deep league to be viable IMO.

Nice write-up on Dane Myers in PT Tomorrow.  WW for hitters in 12 Roto has been picked clean. Do you know anything about this guy besides him breaking his foot on the clubhouse door?
Brent Hershey
12:43
Took him late, late in a couple Draft and Holds (50 rounds) due to some favorable power/speed metrics in the minors. A bit older, so upside is limited, but skills are something that COULD work on a team that gives him PT (like the Marlins)

Thanx Brent, for the chat >>> in that bandbox they call home, will the Rays ever start hitting?
Brent Hershey
12:43
yes

Redraft 10 team  league with one catcher.  Drop Realmuto for O'Hoppe?
Brent Hershey
12:43
Yes

Angels & Rockies, horrible RC+ - should we even roster any of these guys? (12 tmr)
Brent Hershey
12:45
yes, in the right spot, b/c individual players on bad teams can have VG years. Gotta find the right spots, tho. Nothing wrong with likes of Neto, O'Hoppe, Doyle, etc.

Hi Brent - Bloom has included Tyrone Taylor in his FAAB files last two weeks.  Nine hole hitter for Mets.  Dying for offense in my 12 Team roto.  Do Taylor, D. Myers, Dezenzo, M. Vargas or Meidroth do anything for you?  How would you rank this group?
Brent Hershey
12:46
Rank: Myers, Meidroth, Vargas, Taylor. Short leashes for all in a 12, though

Does Ben Brown make it as a starter or do you think his long term spot is Cubs closer?
Brent Hershey
12:48
Long shot for closer (just so much has to go right). I think it's more likely he remains a starter. Has the raw ingredients for it; might take some time.

16 team mixed with obp and solds. Start Colt Keith who has 3 at Colorado and finally hitting or Luisangel Acuna certainly can use steals? And for pitching, where we have 10 pitchers active I generally start 7 or 8 Sps — have 4 active roster spots to fill - pick four: starters Megill, Ray, Giolito or Suarez or relievers Estrada and Ginkel and Cruz and Cade Smith. Thanks!
Brent Hershey
12:49
Acuna; and Megill, Ray, Giolito and Ginkel

Brett! NL 10 team 5x5 - have I reached the end of the enchanted road with Chad Patrick & J Quintana? Should I have on to either?
Brent Hershey
12:49
In a 10-t NL, I'd think Q still has value. Patrick? Unlikely

Why cant PHI just use Alvarado as a 1 inning reliever in the 9th? Feels like they’ve mismanaged him for years now.
Brent Hershey
12:51
Because he's been too inconsistent w/r/t control. When he's going good — like now — seems like a no-brainer. But goes through stretches when can't find the plate. PLUS .... Thomson has shown us he's a matchup/committee guy most of the time. Believe it.

J Dominguez is starting to concern me.  Is it still "early"?  Do the Yankees have a potential replacement?  Or are they still far from considering this?
Brent Hershey
12:51
Their potential replacement (if this continues) is not currently in the org.

Hi Brent,                                         Hopefully Spring will warm up in the North soon.  I umpired games this weekend in freezing rain and high winds in NE Ohio.  Just now thawing out and thinking about my 6x6 Mixed Rotisserie team.  I need some advice:                                           1) I use six starters, but injuries and inconsistency are starting to become a factor.  I have Schwellenbach, Gausman, Pfaadt, Lodolo, Luzardo and Jobe.  I am waiting on Bieber, Weathers, Kershaw and Buehler on the IL.  Would Giolito or Gonslin be an upgrade, or is patience a virtue?                         2) I have used Adam and Puk for holds, and now Fernando Cruz.  I had Jax rated at the top at draft time and he was dropped.  Should I pick him up for ROS, or stick with Cruz?
Brent Hershey
12:54
1) Stick with what you have in this case. Like Gio/Gonsolin, but not better than your currents
2) Jax amazing under the hood; but Cruz is, too. I'd probably stick w/ Cruz because of better team context: Wins more likely from Yanks, etc - so better W potential for Cruz PLUS more holds chances in theory.
And ... be a good Blue!

So many hitters underperforming thus far (BLowe, TLarnach, Santander, CWalker, Yandy Diaz... although the latter two have shown signs of life lately).  Tell me they'll all get better with the weather?
Brent Hershey
12:55
Yeah, think you have to hold. If continues, most worried about Lowe and Santander
