They're the reason they're out on Gausman, know what I mean? So this isn't surprising news to them.
dean
2:27
Because they are all mediocre Stephen. What does having 7 c/c+ starters do for a team other than depth?
Sean Gentille
2:27
It gives them fodder for chat questions.
Greg
2:28
What are the chances of getting Wheeler?
Sean Gentille
2:28
I'm going to bravely state "zero" on that.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:28
In a year or two they might become B/B+ starters.
Bill Brink walked past and said hi to all of yinz.
Chris
2:28
Wheeler isn’t going anywhere.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:28
I agree.
PhillyJake
2:28
Glad we're out on Gausman .  Didn't see him as an upgrade.
bababooey
2:28
what is this team's fixation with max moroff? if we could get a washing machine for him I'd take it.
Sean Gentille
2:29
Finding out that he has at least some value elsewhere has been the weirdest part of my week.
PhillyJake

Did Cole ask for a trade?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:30
I have not heard that he requested a trade. Once they decided they wanted to cash in on Cole and McCutchen's value last offseason, that decision was done.
Hunter
2:31
What prospects would we trade for archer?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:31
Good ones, Hunter. It's hard to say who.
Jon Heyman: "a trade for zack wheeler seems to be increasingly unlikely. mets not hearing what they want to hear. market limited for joey bats, nonexistent for mesoraco. #mets"
PhillyJake

For Archer:  Hayes, Glasnow, Kramer, Clay
Hunter

Omg
Sean Gentille
2:32
Pretty cool that I got up from my computer for 30 seconds, then sat down to see that.
Thought it was the real trade. Thanks losers!!!
Texas Steeler
2:33
Trade Bonds, Parker, Burnett, and Van Slyke, all their prime for Archer

Out on Gausman , Jesus
Sean Gentille
2:35
It's actually Gausman, Kevin
Gino
2:35
I would love to land Archer without giving up either of Keller or Hayes. Don't think Moran is the long term solution at 3rd
Sean Gentille
2:35
It is exceedingly hard to see that happening.
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:35
Keller isn't either.
2:36
I don't think they're going to give up Moran. They like him, and for good reason.
Buck
2:36
Chances that Harrison or Dickerson get moved today? or during the waiver period in August?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:36
The winning streak made that unlikely to happen today. Maybe Harrison is traded next month, but Dickerson stays until they decide they're not in the running for the wild card, at least.

2:37
Is this really happening for the next 90-120min?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:37
Brother, it's been happening since noon.
Sean Gentille
2:37
Personally, I am not at all sure that Colin Moran is good.
2:38
I lean toward him being not-very-good. But we'll see.
Gary Tokyo
2:38
I was told Ron Cook would be here
Sean Gentille
2:38
MAYBE HE IS.
Nate
2:38
Any chance being out on Gausman portends a deal for Archer?
Stephen J. Nesbitt
2:38
I don't like to be a portender, but it could mean something is in the works. The Pirates could have decided a deal was close elsewhere and told the Orioles to move on.

Interesting story here in the Tampa Bay Times about why Archer has slipped back to mediocrity. The upshot: He lost the bite on his slider:

I'm generally fascinated by guys who, year after year, underperform their peripherals.
