Still want written articles after this from each gm with somewhat pick play by play from the gms.
Tim Dierkes
2:03
Not a bad idea!
2:04
Alright - let's get into the second round!  At this link you will see that each team has protected three more players, so that's 90 more off the board.  This is done in order of the MLBTR reader vote.
2:05
With that, Connor, feel free to kick off the second round.  All 30 teams are now open again.
Nola
2:05
I think Connors team is better so far.
Corona
2:05
I prefer Connor's team. Just sayin'...
Tim Dierkes
2:05
Huh
Derrick
2:05
I think Tim has the better roster so far.
Tim Dierkes
2:05
Which team looks better so far?

Lumberjacks (46.5% | 249 votes)

Vipers (53.5% | 287 votes)

Total Votes: 536

I like Nola and Corona. Derrick is a jerk. Just kidding, haha
2:07
The Vipers will lead off the second round by selecting Yankees OF Mike Tauchman at 31
Tim Dierkes
2:07
Well shoot.  I actually wanted Mike Ford.
Connor Byrne
2:08
I agonized, as someone who loves Mike Ford
Hits the ball hard, rarely K's, draws walks, handles LHPs and RHPs
Tim Dierkes
2:08
With the #32 pick, the Portland Lumberjacks take RP Diego Castillo from the Rays.
Connor Byrne
2:09
Dammit, that was my next pick
Jacob
2:09
I feel like Tim's team is better for a team planning to take a few years to build, while Connor's has more players that can contribute quickly (which is good if your team is going to be aggressive in free agency in years 1 and 2)

Did you consider having 30 'real' gms who would be able to make deals? For example, a team like the Yankees would likely make some kind of prearranged deal to limit how much talent it lost.
Tim Dierkes
2:10
I like the idea.  It would increase the amount of work in what was already a decent undertaking, but it would be cool.
Connor Byrne
2:11
The Vipers will take a chance on Cardinals OF Lane Thomas at 33
Tim Dierkes
2:11
It's so cool to have over 1,500 people in here doing this with us. Thanks for joining!
Connor Byrne
2:11
Yeah, thanks! This is fun

With the #34 pick, the Portland Lumberjacks take OF Jake Cave from the Twins.
Aaron

I don't think it matters much, but I think there's a problem on the Brewers protected list. Looks like maybe Arcia's line didn't get deleted so only 2 new players are protected.
Connor Byrne

No. 35: Rangers RHP Jonathan Hernandez
Tim Dierkes
2:14
Thanks, all good now.  Gamel, Pina, Claudio not available.
This Is Awesome

Will you be updating the google spreadsheet by pick?
Tim Dierkes
With the #36 pick, the Portland Lumberjacks take P Dennis Santana from the Dodgers.
Connor Byrne
2:17
The Vipers take Indians RHP Adam Plutko at 37
Tim Dierkes
2:18
With the #38 pick, the Portland Lumberjacks take P Huascar Ynoa from the Braves.

My heart is wrenched each time the Twins lose a player. Even though I know it’s not real :/ (and Twins have depth at the 2 positions they lost (RP and RF/LF)
Ray

Yankees, Rays, Cards first three selections in both rounds.  Interesting.  Shows where the minor league depth is.

How did you decide the additional 3 players to protect from each team after round 1? I think the Yankees would have protected Tauchman over Hicks with the latter's hefty contract a deterrent to an expansion team.
Tim Dierkes
2:20
By the order in which MLBTR readers voted for them in our polls over the past few weeks.

I had trouble weighing the factors that come into play when i tried to build my squad. Years of control, age, etc. How did/are you factoring those things as you go?
Tim Dierkes
2:21
Years of control is primary for me.
Connor Byrne
