Anthony Franco

Clearly, MLB wants to curtail runaway spending. But I don't think the league really needs to protect Steve Cohen from himself or whatever
James
7:12
who is next to realistically get 3000 hits
Anthony Franco
7:13
We'll set aside Miguel Cabrera, who's going to get it within a month of the season starting
7:14
After that, there's basically nobody with a chance, unless you think Canó's getting around 400 more
Which I don't
7:15
So idk, it seems like it might be one of the young superstars like Vlad Jr. Good question, open to suggestions if anyone thinks I missed somebody closer
Dessert Choice
7:15
Anthony, tell us, we're all dying to know - cake or pie?
Anthony Franco
7:15
Pie, easily
Mets 4L
7:15
Will angels be good this year?
Anthony Franco
7:16
I think they're a little outside the playoff mix right now but if they sign Trevor Story or something, they'd be right there
TREA TURNER
7:16
Do the Dodgers extend me and what would it cost? I'm worth as much as Seager and Correa, right?
Anthony Franco
7:17
I don't know if they get something done before he hits free agency, but I do think the Dodgers are the favorite on a Turner deal long-term
7:18
He'll be a little bit older than Correa and Seager so he probably falls short on years but I think a similar AAV over eight or nine seems fair if he has another great season
Garrett cooper
7:19
Do Garrett cooper and Alex Dickerson make a decent low cost right field platoon?
Anthony Franco
7:19
Yeah I like both of those guys. Cooper gets hurt all the time though
7:20
But he's a good hitter when healthy. I don't think it'd be the worst thing in the world to just have him as their regular right fielder so long as they have some insurance in case of injury
The bigger issue is that dictates playing Avi García in center regularly, which probably won't go well
Stop now
7:20
R the Yankees going to spend to upgrade
Anthony Franco
7:21
Seems like they're not keen on the idea of a long-term investment, but they could take on the projected salaries of Matt Olson and one of the A's pitchers in a trade or something like that, sure
Phenom
7:22
Leaving contact issues aside, if you could build your team around Vlad, Soto, Tatis, Franco, Acuna or other (please specify) who would it be? Why?
Anthony Franco
7:23
I think I'd go Soto. The offensive profile is so special
Jesus sanchez
7:23
Is he a trade target for a team that needs an upside controllable outfielder? At what cost?
Anthony Franco
7:23
Miami
Whoops, sorry
Miami's trying to acquire controllable outfielders. Can't see them moving Sánchez
Harry Doyle
7:24
Who will be the Phillies closer?
Anthony Franco
7:24
I'd guess Knebel gets that one
MLBTR rocks
7:24
Over/under $174m for total value of Freddie Freeman contract? What say you?
Anthony Franco
7:24
Slight over
Ms fan
7:25
What are the chances Haniger is a Mariner beyond this upcoming season?
Anthony Franco
7:25
Seems unlikely to me, given all the young outfield talent they have at or near the big league level
7:26
Not to say that Haniger's not a good player, and I'm sure the Mariners would keep tabs on his market, but I just think there'll be enough demand to push the price higher than Seattle feels like they should go given the rest of their roster

7:26
Anthony,  I don’t recall seeing this question.  Do you think that the CBA might include any terms and conditions on the “pitchers’ sticky stuff?”
Anthony Franco
7:27
I do not. There's been no indication that's on the table, and I think they've got their hands full enough with the core economics stuff right
7:28
Sticky stuff, banning the shift, etc. feels like things they'll circle back to like a year after they agree on the economic issues when there's a little less animosity
Wally
7:28
Will minor league baseball start on time? How can a body watch the games  on T.V.?
Anthony Franco
7:28
It will, the minors are unaffected by the lockout (aside from the minor leaguers on the 40-man I alluded to earlier). I think most games are available for streaming on MiLB TV, albeit at varying levels of broadcast quality
Mets Fan
7:29
Do you think there’s a chance the Mets can pry John Means from the O’s?
Anthony Franco
7:29
Sure, he's a sensible target for a lot of teams looking for rotation help
Alexa Bliss

do you keep up with everyone else’s chats on the site or you got enough on your plate already?
