Anthony Franco

Ha yeah, I read them. Don't typically follow along live but I'll check out the transcripts
The chats -- whether my own, Steve's or Mark's -- can sometimes spur an idea for an original post or two
I'm running lower on those by the day, so I'll happily take those where I can find them
Michael W
7:31
Pham's expected salary for a one year pillow contract
Anthony Franco
7:31
Like $6MM
PowerPuffBubbles
7:31
In 5 years who’s the best pitcher(s) in baseball?
Anthony Franco
7:32
Hmm, I think one of the guys who's already great but still young is a safer bet here than a prospect
So Walker Buehler? Burnes, Woodruff, Urías among the other possibilities that jump to mind off the top of my head
Fandango
7:33
When it’s all set and done, where does Cabrera rank among the all time greats?
Anthony Franco
7:34
I don't have a great feel for whether he's like the 25th or the 50th best player of all time, but he's an inner circle, obvious Hall of Famer
Blue jays
7:34
Who gets added to the blue jays when the lockout ends either free agency or trade
Anthony Franco
7:35
At least one infielder and maybe another reliever. I'm guessing they'll try to make a run at Matt Chapman
Jill
7:35
Can Cleveland extend Jose or Shane?
Anthony Franco
7:36
I'd be surprised if they get they get a long-term deal done on either player. Can't really project that for a franchise that has never gone above $60M on any one player before
Joey JoJo Jr. Shabadoo
7:36
Altuve for 3k hits?
Anthony Franco
7:37
I thought about it, but he's already almost 32 and still more than 1200 away
He'd have to be really good deep into his 30s. Not impossible, but I'll take the under on 3000
Warwick Davis
7:37
You a video gamer? Catch me on MLB:The Show
Anthony Franco
7:38
Used to play more often than I do now. Haven't bought The Show in probably five years
Sal

With Lindor signed for the next 10yrs, what is stopping the Mets from trading Mauricio? Would the Reds be interested? What would it take for them to obtain Castillo?
Anthony Franco
7:39
They could eventually kick Mauricio over to third base or the outfield if he hits well enough, but I'm guessing they'd be open to trading him
7:40
It's hard to say whether a team would have strong interest in any prospect (aside from the top handful of guys who are unanimously beloved). Teams have different scouts who'll evaluate those guys differently
7:41
Mauricio, in particular, is tough. He's obviously physically gifted but has real hit tool concerns and hit .242 with a .290 OBP in High-A last year. Guessing there'll be a pretty broad range of opinions on him, but I think the Reds could do better than him as a headliner on Castillo
That guy
7:43
I saw a collage game where the pitcher is using a watch to receive the pitch sign. Love it or hate it? Will MLB think about it?
Anthony Franco
7:43
I'm indifferent on the concept, do think it'll happen eventually
Have to figure out a way to keep it secure from hacking. I have no idea how feasible that is
Nelson Cruz
7:43
Where am I playing in 2022?
Anthony Franco
7:44
I like Milwaukee as a fit, presuming the NL DH
The Fiend BW
7:44
How would you handle the steroid era/users and the hall of fame?
Anthony Franco
7:45
I'd put them in at this point. I used to be against the idea, but nobody can definitively say who did things by the book and I'm guessing they've already inducted a few players who used PEDs
7:46
So I've come around on it, but I totally get why others feel differently. To be honest, the PED debates kind of killed my enjoyment of the Hall of Fame altogether. The moral/authenticity debates aren't fun, but that's a lot of what it's turned into over the past few years
Mike
7:47
Can Reds win Central?
Anthony Franco
7:47
I think it's a longshot, particularly if they move one of their top three starters
Brewers and Cardinals are better teams, in my view
Ocean Palmer
7:47
Why on earth is Dick Monfort on the owners' negotiation team? Most inept front office in MLB and he's on your leadership team?
Anthony Franco
7:48
Have to find somebody who wants to be on the leadership team, which I'm guessing is quite a bit of a commitment
Andy
7:48
I always thought Ramiel Tapia be a great fit for Yankees. Thoughts? What about trading for him and Marquez? What would it cost in prospects
Anthony Franco
7:49
Tapia wouldn't cost a whole lot, although I don't think he's better than any of the Yankees' incumbent outfielders unless they move Gallo in a separate deal
Márquez isn't getting traded. The Rockies just aren't entertaining that kind of sell-off
JOe Mauer
7:49
Who are some realistic starting pitching options for the twins?
