Seems like it. Andy Martino said last week that was the plan
6:00
Smith and McNeil never felt like great trade candidates. Not sure Smith's all that valuable, while keeping McNeil as the starting second baseman is probably the best course of action
Davis should probably go at some point, but maybe that's more of a midseason thing

Giants over or under 80 wins this season?
Anthony Franco
6:01
Over
Sweet dee
6:02
Would you void tatis contract?
Anthony Franco
6:02
Absolutely not

Am I the only one that doesn't like the idea of banning shifts?? My whole life in convos and interviews, you hear everyone saying baseball is a game of adjustments. These hitters are supposed to be th best in the world with bats in their hands. Make the adjustment!!! They don't want to put in the time or effort to be able to hit the other way then that's on them. Shifts have been happening for 100 years or more. Ted Williams said he didn't care about shifts. He'd hit it thru them or over them. What say you???
Anthony Franco
6:02
I'm not morally wedded to the shift, but I think banning it will have the opposite effect the league thinks it will
6:03
The guys who get shifted the most are the Joey Gallo types, who also tend to have the highest strikeout rates. The league seems to think that banning the shift will get guys to prioritize contact and hit more balls up the middle
6:04
I think what'll actually happen is the late-career Ryan Howard type just sticks around longer because he gets rewarded for rolling over grounders between the first and second baseman
We'll see

Why do the Rockies trade Arenado and let Storey go?   Only to spend all that money on Bryant…. 🤔
Anthony Franco
6:05
Arenado and the front office had a falling out. Story wanted out
They think they're a star position player away from contending. I disagree, but if you're going on that assumption, there weren't too many better players than Bryant on the market this winter
No offense
6:06
What do you believe is the worst offensive division in baseball this year?
Anthony Franco
6:06
NL Central
Phils in 22
6:06
Can Conforto play center.  Phils still need someone out there.  Thanks.
Anthony Franco
6:07
He hasn't played an inning there since 2019, and the Phils are already at a franchise-record payroll. I don't think that's happening
Milwaukee Brewers
6:08
Any chance our existence is acknowledged?
Anthony Franco
6:08
The Brewers are really good
Wally green monster
6:08
Who's the red sox catcher next year?
Anthony Franco
6:09
Probably an external pickup. Zunino maybe?
I'm interpreting this question as for 2023, btw. It's Vázquez again for this year
Trey Mancini
6:09
Extension or Free Agency?
Anthony Franco
6:10
I think this depends on the season he has in 2022. Tough to see them doing a preseason extension since he's coming off a meh year
But if he's mashing through June, I think they'll look to keep him around. They have basically no money on the books, and he's obviously a valued member of the clubhouse and community there

Years ago Ron Gant had a motorbike accident, broke his leg and had his contract voided with the Braves. Tatis had "multiple" bike accidents in the offseason that resulted in an injury and no peep out of the Padres. Why is that?
Anthony Franco
6:11
Because he's going to miss 2-3 months of a 13-year deal
6:12
Tatís is great. The Padres trying to void his contract and ruin their relationship with their franchise player because he knocked himself out for a couple months of what should be an incredible career would be stupid
Franco Franco
6:12
What is your prediction for the Marlins? You think they can compete for a wild-card?
Anthony Franco
6:13
I'd be surprised. The position player group isn't great, didn't love either of their big free agent signings this winter
The ghost of Harry Dalton
6:13
have the Brewers done enough to be serious contenders?
Anthony Franco
6:14
Yeah, I don't think they had to do a whole lot to remain the favorites in the division

Just a few years ago, the O's were plenty willing to spend upwards of $150 mil on their roster. With a top-end farm system and several young players "arrived" or close to it, do you seem them as being more active next offseason as the long-term holes in the lineup become more apparent?
Anthony Franco
6:15
Yeah they kind of have to be. At some point, the rebuild has to end
6:16
The O's are in a tough spot with the strength of the other four teams in the division. Guys like Rutschman and Rodriguez becoming stars is an excellent start, but they're going to need to begin supplementing in the next year or two
Grayson
6:16
Did Correa hurt his market more by the sign stealing scandal or by waiting too long to sign?
Anthony Franco
6:17
I don't know if he waited too long or if the big-market suitors for a shortstop just never materialized for various reasons
6:18
Tigers/Rangers pivoted to other options, Yankees have a couple high-end prospects on the way, Dodgers have Trea Turner, Phillies had like three other huge holes on the roster to address
