Pitch framing becomes obsolete at that point. Do we just get teams throwing Evan Gattis bat-only types at catcher to squeeze more offense out, or do they still value ball-blocking and game calling enough that it remains a defense-first thing? I don't actually know
MN Boy
5:08
Who is the Twins closer?  Is it closer by committee?!?!?
Anthony Franco
5:09
I think it'll mostly be Rogers but Baldelli will use him in high-leverage spots on occasion and then figure out the ninth thereafter
Amari
5:09
With Joe Buck gone, who do you want to call World Series games?
Anthony Franco
5:09
Joe Davis
Chas McCormick
5:09
Why doesn’t seem Dusty like me? If you extrapolate my stats last year over 162 games, it’s 20 homers, 75+ rbis and an ops north of .750. You can’t pluck those kind of numbers from someone of the streets.
Anthony Franco
5:10
Yeah I'm in way on McCormick. I think he's like a 115 wRC+ type with capable center field defense, 3-4 wins annually
5:11
As you mentioned, it doesn't seem like the Astros themselves are as bullish. But in Dusty's defense, Myles Straw and Jake Meyers were good last year so I get why he kept running those guys out there as well
Abraham
5:11
what are your thoughts in the angels middle infield situation?
Anthony Franco
5:12
Very concerning
Tito
5:12
Will Red Sox acquire a RHH RF?  Bradley can’t play against LH and Martinez can’t play 49-50 games in the OF.
Anthony Franco
5:12
I think they're going to try to make it work with JDM out there to start
5:13
Wouldn't be too surprising if they traded for a righty hitting outfielder closer to the deadline and moved Martinez back to everyday DH duty
What?
5:13
What AL Central or AL West teams have the best shot at a WC spot if you believe the AL East will have 3 playoff teams?
Anthony Franco
5:13
Twins, Mariners, Angels (assuming the Astros win the West) all feel like realistic WC contenders to me
5:14
Royals and Tigers are a little longer shots, but I wouldn't be stunned if they get there. Requires more development from the young players than I'd realistically forecast, but not impossible
Brad Hand’s Hand

Are the Padres really ok with the OF? Campuzano in an OF trade?
Anthony Franco
5:15
I don't know how they could be happy with the corner outfield as it is
Seems like they might not have the payroll space for Conforto, but maybe they stretch that? Think they'd be involved if the Rays pull the trigger on a Meadows deal

5:16
Was the signing of Tommy Pham with the Reds surprising after the moves they made before?
Anthony Franco
5:16
I was a little surprised, yeah. I actually like Pham a lot as a bounceback candidate and think it was strong value for the Reds in a vacuum
5:17
Strange in the broader context of the offseason, but they're trying to thread this really tight needle and contend despite trading a few of their better players
Mcfly
5:18
With the AL East being so stacked, could it be that they end up beating up on each other and no team gets to 90 wins?
Anthony Franco
5:18
Nah I don't think so. It was stacked last year and they all got to 90 wins
Well, not the Orioles, but you know what I mean
JBanswer my question please
5:18
Why has no one signed Puig to a very team friendly contract? Does he not deserves a second chance. He is better than a lot of the people signed. Does not perform or is a pain release him. Don't get it
Anthony Franco
5:19
He's in the Korea Baseball Organization
Jimmy
5:19
Does JRod make the M's opening day outfield?
Anthony Franco
5:19
I lean towards yes, but that's a complete guess. Haven't seen any firm indication one way or the other on that

Is Gallen a buy low with years of control? Would the Dbacks move him? Would you want to pay the prospects it would take given his injury history?
Anthony Franco
5:20
I thought he might be a buy-low arm early in the offseason but he basically never came up in trade rumors
5:21
The D-Backs are mostly running it back. Their GM Mike Hazen talks fairly frequently about his desire to "anchor" around a few key players (hence the Ketel Marte extension which was great value for the team). I'm guessing they'd have Gallen in that bucket for now
Cody Bellinger
5:22
Anthony, if you had to guess, am I playing for the Dodgers in 2023?
Anthony Franco
5:22
Man, I lean towards no
5:23
He's under club control but he'd be an obvious non-tender if he's anywhere near as bad as he was last season. I don't think he'll be one of the worst hitters in baseball again, but I'm also not super optimistic about him bouncing back anywhere near his previous level

5:24
Are the schedules going forward going to be more balanced? Was that part of the CBA?
Anthony Franco
5:24
Yeah that'll take effect in 2023. Believe every team will play every other team at least once per year
Yo
5:24
Kelenic to marlins for a starter. Then mariners sign conforto?
Anthony Franco
5:25
Nah, they're not trading Kelenic right now
Dodgers
5:25
Please tell me that we might trade for another SP soon. This can’t be what we will start the season with.
