Again, not a change I expect to see any time soon. I didn't love Miami's free agent signings, but they've done a really nice job building the pitching pipeline, the Joey Wendle trade looks great so far
Dave Roberts

Why doesn’t Edwin Rios play more? Dude can hit
Anthony Franco

Dodgers lineup is stacked

Think the Mariners could go after snell if he were on the block?
Anthony Franco
5:50
Sure, I like this idea even beyond the geographic connection
Aj Hinch
5:50
Generally speaking, why is my team so bad?
Anthony Franco
5:50
(Tigers)
5:51
No one's hitting and all the starting pitchers got hurt
Cal

What are the chances that Correa signs longer-term with the Twins and would the Twins want to? Boras clients typically don't "renegotiate", but Correa has expressed a desire to stay long-term. Royce Lewis is holding his own albeit a very small sample size.
Anthony Franco
5:51
The Twins have also expressed interest in keeping him but I think it's still a lot likelier he winds up elsewhere
5:52
Just tough to project Minnesota going to $300MM+ when they've never come close, but you could've said that about them paying more than $35MM annually too
GBS42
5:52
What first-place team do you think is least likely to remain there at season's end?
Anthony Franco
5:53
Ha, I feel like you're just teeing me up to aggravate Angels fans in here again
I'd say it's a toss-up between them and Minnesota
Die Hard White Sox Fan

Has there ever been an instance where 2 players were traded for each other say at the trade deadline and then traded again for each other during the off season?
Anthony Franco
5:54
I'm not aware of anything like this but I figure I'll throw it into the chat if anything jumps to mind for anyone else
Long-suffering Reds fan
5:54
who from the Reds gets traded/kept/signed long-term(if anyone :( )
Anthony Franco
5:55
At least one of Mahle and Castillo probably goes. The role players on short-term deals (Solano, Pham, Drury) would all be out there
5:56
I don't think they'll go too much further than that though. Would be very surprised if we get to a point where guys like India or Stephenson are coming up in rumors. I could see either -- Stephenson in particular -- as a possible extension candidate
Jared keymer
5:56
You see Max Meyer getting the call in the coming couple weeks with Hernandez struggling?
Joe
5:56
When will max meyer get the call?
Anthony Franco
5:57
Yeah Craig Mish and Barry Jackson at the Miami Herald said they were already thinking about this. Innings might be a bit of a concern, but I think he'll be up at some point in the second half of the year
Angels fan
5:58
With fletcher out with surgery do you think that we could get either bogarts or Canó
Anthony Franco
5:59
These are wildly different caliber of players. Canó as a stopgap? I guess it's fine, but I'm not convinced he's better than Matt Duffy or Tyler Wade at this point
If Bogaerts becomes available -- which wouldn't happen for a couple months -- the Angels should be all over it

What kind of return should I ask for when teams come calling about Mullins and Hays at the deadline? Lots of teams need a CF and I have two pretty controllable ones.
Anthony Franco
6:01
For three and a half seasons of Mullins, you're probably talking about two Top 100 prospect types. The Pirates reportedly wanted Max Meyer and Kahlil Watson in Bryan Reynolds talks, which is perfectly defensible and about the range I think the O's would set on Mullins
6:03
Hays would bring back a bit less because he's not as good a defender and doesn't have a full season like the one Mullins had last year, but he'd also bring back one top prospect and a couple lottery tickets
Long-suffering Reds fan
6:03
Anthony, why do you hate me? I've asked many questions about my Reds and their deadline deals and no responses.
Anthony Franco
6:04
Ha this isn't personal but glad I got one of yours earlier
Ang T
6:04
How much of a commodity do you think Jose Quintana will be come the trade deadline?
Anthony Franco
6:04
A middling one, kind of like Tyler Anderson was last year
6:05
Bucs got half a season of solid work and two decent prospects for very little money, so I'm not trying to diminish that move (or the Quintana signing). But these guys don't bring back franchise-altering returns
AL west
6:05
What last place team do you think ends up making the playoffs?
Anthony Franco
6:06
None of them but Boston's the only one with a shot in my opinion
VegasDuck
6:06
Angels making you and every other writer here look foolish so far
Anthony Franco
6:07
They've been great so far. I concede they've already been much better than I anticipated
Justin Verlander
6:07
If he keeps pitching like this and assuming he opts out, what could he get on the open market this winter?
Anthony Franco
6:08
Man, this is a fascinating one I haven't really thought about yet. He'd be going into his age-40 season. A multi-year deal would seem kind of crazy but Verlander's so much of an outlier in every way I think he could get two years
