How many top 100 players would it take to aquire lindor? Round about
Mark P
9:42
Cleveland wouldn't be wrong to ask for at least four top-100 prospects.  Lindor is that good.

Mark P can you answer a serious question for once!! You might as well be working at a Barnes n Noble!
Mark P
9:43
I didn't even know that Barnes and Noble had weekly baseball chats.

Is Folty pitching himself into non tender territory with the Braves?
Mark P
9:45
As rough of a year as it's been for Folty, the Braves aren't going to just cut him for nothing.  This is a guy who looked like a future ace just one season ago

What’s your take on Mike Trout? Is he forever plagued with the injury bug or does he just play too hard for his own good? Greatest player I’ve ever been lucky to witness.
Mark P
9:46
Injury bug?  Except for 2017, Trout has been a very durable player, which just adds to his greatness.
Mark Turner
9:46
Could Giles fetch Deivi Garcia on his own?
Mark P
9:47
Deivi Garcia is a very promising young pitchers in the Yankees system, for those who aren't aware.  My guess is NYY isn't going to move him, and if they do, it'll be for someone bigger than just Ken Giles

What is next for the Royals
Mark P

More trades of veterans as the rebuild rolls on

Will Trevor Bauer be moved before the trade deadline?
Mark P
9:50
I'm leaning about 65% no, since Cleveland is still pretty close to the Twins and they're right in the wild card race.  Trading Bauer when the rotation is already on shaky ground would be a real white-flag kind of a move

Greinke rumors seem to circulate this time every year. Any chance he’s traded with the DBack in the WC hunt?
Mark P
9:52
Greinke's salary is such a huge portion of Arizona's payroll that no matter how well he pitches, the D'Backs have to be open to potential trades.  Mike Hazen has already shown he's proactive about both trying to contend while unloading big names and big salaries, though swinging such a trade (Greinke for win-now types of players) is particularly hard on a limited timeframe before the deadline

In addition to some bullpen weakness, the twins starting rotation is also showing some cracks. In addition they have three starters free agents at the end of the year. Will they be able to add a long-term starter in addition to some bullpen help this year?
Mark P
9:55
I'm sure the Twins would prefer to add someone controlled through at least 2020.  They likely aren't going to give up a big prospect haul for any rental player.
9:56
As to whether they'll able to get such a controllable starter...well, it'll depend on what they'd want to give up.  We've heard reports they have interest in both Stroman and Giles from Toronto

If I stay healthy will I move teams?
Mark P
9:56
My guess is yes.  The Giants will almost certainly be deadline sellers, and Bumgarner is near the top of their list of trade chips

What is Boyd worth to you..does pitching for an awful ball club factor in when it comes to scouts etc
Mark P
9:58
It definitely factors in.  That's why teams have scouts and other personnel observing these games to see if a pitcher is being hampered by, say, a bad defense or something.  Or maybe he pitches for a team with a catcher who isn't good at game-calling, blocking pitches, etc.

Any chance the Mariners part ways with Mitch Haniger?
Mark P
9:59
Almost certainly not, especially since Haniger might not even be back on the field by the deadline

Do Twins get any help if top 3 prospects are untouchable?
Mark P
10:02
This comment is based on this piece: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/3-twins-prospects-reportedly-of...

Keep in mind that La Velle E. Neal was just giving his informed opinion about which prospects were truly "untouchable" or not, since I'm sure the Twins would be open to moving any of the trio if a real sweetheart of an offer came along.

But keep in mind, Minnesota has a pretty good farm system.  MLB.com has two more Twins prospects at the bottom end of their top 100.  So they have things to offer even if Lewis/Kirilloff/Graterol likely aren't going anywhere

What was your favorite world series in the 90's?
Mark P
10:03
I'm a Jays fan, so it's obviously a tie between the 1992 and 1993 Series for me

10:03
Do you think the Orioles huge signings (meaning numbers) in the International draft was possibly about establishing a presence in the Dominican? Possibly letting agents and handlers know they would have a presence the next few years?
Mark P
10:04
100%.  Mike Elias has said as much, that the team is completely overhauling its int'l scouting and development system.

10:05
Can twins get both Madbum and Smith for Brudar?
Mark P
10:06
This would be Brusdar Graterol, one of Minnesota's aforementioned three "untouchable" prospects.

There is no way the Giants trade their two biggest chips for a single prospect.  Even if Graterol is the headliner amidst a few other lesser prospects, I suspect it'd take more than that to pry both MadBum and Smith

Did you play baseball in college?
Mark P
10:07
My playing days ended in house league.  Let's just say I figured out pretty early that I wasn't going to be a Major League player.

10:07
With all the money they have coming off the books, could you see the Reds trading for guys who need to be extended? Guys like Stroman.
Mark P
10:08
I'm not sure someone like Stroman would necessarily be up for an extension right away on a new team, so close to free agency.  Who knows if his opinion might change after two months in Cincy, however.

But in general, the Reds can use their upcoming payroll space to their advantage in pursuing controllable players

Greatest player ever..........Wllie Mays, right?
Mark P
10:12
He's on my short list for sure.  In my opinion, Mays, Ruth, and Bonds have the best cases in GOAT discussions.  Josh Gibson and Hank Aaron aren't far behind.  You can add Trout's name to this discussion in a few more years if he keeps doing what he's doing.
Astros
10:14
Will the Astros acquire a starting pitcher and call it a day or will they look to add 1 more significant piece? Would the other piece be bullpen arm or another bat?
