Overbearing Padre
6:38
Any bold predictions for the Padres' offseason?
Connor Byrne
6:39
I expect them to get at least one big-time starter, be it via free agency or trade.
Dom Mazetti
6:39
Could CC be talked out of retirement similar to Andy Pettite or do you think his Shoulder/knee are shot?
Connor Byrne
6:39
I think he's done. Both sides are better off moving on.
Giants fan
6:40
will the Giants resign Pillar?
Connor Byrne
6:41
It's not necessarily a matter of re-signing. They can keep him for next year via arbitration, but doing so might cost in the range of $10MM. That's a lot for a guy w/ a .280-ish OBP who might not be their center fielder (Duggar's in the fold). I know Pillar's a very well-respected clubhouse guy, but that only goes so far.
Jeff
6:42
Can we get some nonsensical non-tender speculation?
Connor Byrne
6:42
Hey, Pillar might be a non-tender. I'm sure we'll be writing up all the prominent non-tender candidates in the coming weeks.
Kibby
6:43
Landing spot for Hunter Pence? I'm thinking another minor league to $1 million deal as a stop gap guy. It seems to me like he enjoys the Rangers (close to home). Think there any capacity for keeping him there?
Connor Byrne
6:43
I've read quotes from their GM and manager questioning whether there'll be room for Pence next year, though they love what he did for them this year. I think he'll move on for a cheap MLB deal.
New York Mess
6:44
What are your offseason moves for the Mets? Wouldn’t it be wise to sign Wheeler, deal Thor to the Padres for a few arms and CF/C and then sign Betts going into 2021?
Connor Byrne
6:45
I think the ship has sailed on re-signing Wheeler. GM Brodie Van Wagenen has said Syndergaard will be back, but we'll see if he's telling the truth. Betts isn't a wholly unrealistic trade target. Other than that, I expect another winter of bullpen pursuits. They'll also need SP depth at the very least, especially if Wheeler goes.
Tomt
6:46
Why is Huntington still the GM of the Pirates?
Connor Byrne
6:46
Don't know. I'd have let him and Hurdle go. Ownership's the real problem, though.
Julio Urias
6:46
I’m filthy and should be in the Dodgers rotation next year ...
Connor Byrne
6:47
The Dodgers indicated earlier this season they plan on starting Urias next year.
Hansel Robles
6:47
Was I the most under appreciated reliever in 2019?
Connor Byrne
6:48
The most? I don't know about that off the top of my head, but I'm certain you're up there.
Red Sox GM
6:48
Do you think an active trade deadline where the Red Sox shipped out Betts or Bradley would have saved their now departed GM?  Is this a cautionary tale for future GMs?
Connor Byrne
6:48
Not necessarily. Buster Olney reported when the Red Sox fired Dave Dombrowski that it had been under consideration for about a year.
Lefty
6:49
Posey looks like a perfect fit on Atlanta. Leadership, defense Plus decent bat in the 6,7, or 8 spot. Any chance of him agreeing to be dealt?
Connor Byrne
6:50
The contract's pretty unappealing even if he did agree to waive his NTC
Jose Abreu
6:50
Am I worth the money and how many years should I actually get?  3 years and 45 mill sound right?
Connor Byrne
6:50
Too high, in my opinion. I'm in the 2/28 range.
Hudson
6:50
You said that if Chapman opts out that the Mets should go after him. What contract would it take to sign him?
Connor Byrne
6:50
3 yrs, low 50s?
Betts
6:51
With teams less likely than ever to deal blue chip prospects, am I able to net a guy in the top 20?
Connor Byrne
6:51
As great as Betts is, that's a lot for one year of a guy who could make around $28MM next season. If you make that deal, you better be sure you're a World Series contender in 2020. Betts very likely isn't signing an extension w/ anyone.
Puig
6:52
What's my market like?
Connor Byrne
6:52
Not an ideal time for Puig to become a free agent off the year he just had. I'm guessing he'll get a 1/2-yr deal worth a fairly modest sum.
Blake Treinen
6:53
I was a mess this year and now I am injured.  Will I be non-tendered?
Connor Byrne
6:53
That seems likely
1988 is it a curse?
6:54
give me your first thought when thinking of rich hill? could be personal or professional.
Connor Byrne
6:55
He seems like an excellent guy who has had an incredible late-career run. Good for him.
Fangraphs
6:55
If you had to choose only one stat to evaluate a hitter, which stat would that be?
Connor Byrne
6:55
wRC+
Steve
6:55
What do you think the steroid era guys would have done with these juiced balls?
Connor Byrne
6:55
Hit a copious amount of them over fences
Chi Sox
6:57
A lot has been made about the young guns coming up, but could the White Sox be next years Pirates if players like Giolito regress?  They seem a little over confident and Hahn has never made the playoffs this decade.  Time for new management?
Connor Byrne
6:57
It depends on what they do this winter. There's clearly a lot to address there. It's not as if they're 1-2 moves from greatness.
