A team that wins a World Series and has nine straight years of mediocrity (90 losses or more) or for a team to not win a World Series but have ten straight years of 90+ wins

I love my Colorado Rockies...but Benny Montgomery over Khalil Watson???
Mark P
3:26
The Rockies weren't the only team to pass on Watson, so only time will tell who made the right call

Small, Turang and Mitchell for Olson.  What do you think?
Mark P

The A's could get more from another team, or demand more from Milwaukee

Many Mariner fans are under the impression the M's would add another highend starter through FA or Trade after signing Ray. Lots of gripes about not signing Stroman as well or going for Rodon or Kershaw. I simply don't see the Mariners signing or trading for a starter like that, when the rotation is set with Ray, Flexxen, Gilbert, Gonzalez. Another pricey starter would push one to the #5 and leave little room barring injury for someone like Brash or Kirby to get a start during the season. I see it more someone like Anderson again or someone internal like Dunn, while using those dollars or prospects to obtain an impact bat or two, plus a lefty reliever. Am I off in this assement?

Obligatory "you can never have enough pitching" mention, but I do think Seattle's bigger need at the moment is hitting.

They got the one frontline arm in Ray, and as you said, they can now add more of a depth starter for the back end of the rotation

Would it take Jasson to land both Manaea (or Bassitt) and Olson? Or is Jasson off-limits?
Mark P
3:30
I would imagine he's off-limits

If Cleveland was willing to trade Plesac in a package deal for an outfielder who do you think they could get?
Mark P
3:32
I think they could get quite a few interesting and high-caliber players, but I also kind of doubt Plesac would be on the trade market.
3:33
The Guardians' strength is their pitching, and if you move Plesac, suddenly that depth gets a little thinner.  And if there's another injury-riddled year like 2021, that's one less arm to help plug a hole
International Free Agency
3:34
Do you think this CBA will institute an International Free Agent draft vs. the free agency system they have today? Today’s system seems unfair as the best prospects tend to sign with the big teams (or their favorite teams)…see Jasson Dominguez as an example.
Mark P
3:36
I do think an international draft of some kind is coming, maybe in the next CBA if not this incoming agreement.

But, the system is maybe more "fair" now then it's ever been.  If a player wants to sign with a big-name team or their favorite team, what's wrong with that?

What would be the best fit for me? San Diego, Toronto, and Seattle all seem like good options.

Would the White Sox be better to trade for Gallo or sign Conforto? Thanks and have a Merry Christmas
Mark P
3:38
Interesting, I think the Sox would do a Gallo trade because of the lesser cost.  It isn't yet clear just how much more the White Sox are willing to go, payroll-wise

The Nats have a ton of available payroll money, do you see them as a team that "buys" a prospect or two by taking on a bad contract? Thanks.
Mark P
3:39
It's a tactic that would make a lot of sense for them, especially if they're still aiming to replicate their strategy of adding a bunch of short-term players.  If they acquired a player making a big salary just in 2021, they could fill one hole and add a prospect at the same time, for just a few extra bucks

If Seattle wanted to trade for anyone from Oakland and had the best offer, would the A’s take it or accept a lesser offer from outside the division so they wouldn’t have to face their former player several times a year?
Mark P
3:42
It depends on the team.  Some clubs are open to trading within the division, others aren't (especially if there's a rivalry in place).
The A's and M's have some history of trades, but not a ton recently

Do you think the A's chances of staying in Oakland has improved with EIR report being released. It seems like it had
Mark P
3:45
From what I understand, it's a positive step but still a relatively minor step in the grander process.  Still a very long ways to go, but it does seem like the first bit of good news in a while for those hoping the A's remain in Oakland

What has to be adjusted to Adell for S Gray to happen?

The Angels aren't dealing Adell for two years (at most) of Sonny Gray

If the Nats didn't resign a generational talent like Bryce Harper or a great player like Anthony Rendon, is there any hope at all that they'll resign Juan Soto?
Mark P
3:49
They did extend Strasburg, so it's not like the Nationals are adverse to spending big to retain their own guys.

Your thoughts on Jays plan to renovate Roger's instead of building a new stadium?
Mark P
3:50
I don't mind it, and I think the Jays are a bit hamstrung because there aren't a ton of viable spots for a ballpark in Toronto.  Rogers Centre's location is pretty ideal.  For years, I actually thought if they did build a new park, they'd just put it on the other side of the CN Tower, except the aquarium got there first
