At 80 mil below the luxury tax, it seems strange Farhan didn’t make a significant offensive addition. I believe in Farhan, but I also think he may be a little too stubborn. There were plenty of guys who were great fits, and even if those deals didn’t work out, it wouldn’t derail the plan. What do you think?

Again, SF scored a bunch of runs last year.  Given how well their platoon-heavy system worked, I can understand why the Giants might want to run it back.  

Also, let's not forget that the team can always still add in-season.  Zaidi has shown he is more than willing to swing big deadline trades.

He has a partial no-trade clause, so Correa would have some control over his future.  And I can buy that rumor....it seems like this deal has plenty of off-ramps built into it anyway, so a midseason trade isn't implausible

It's an interesting fit, since the Jays could basically just cycle Conforto and the other three starters through the DH spot to keep everyone fresh and in the lineup.

By all accounts, Steinbrenner seems fine with his guys.  If he wasn't, I'm sure Boone wouldn't have gotten a new contract last fall.

Mark, how does the mariners infield shake out? White at first, Toro at second, JP at short and Suarez at third? With Frazier  and France as bench players? Or are they going to rotate everyone everyday?

France and Frazier are definitely starting.  White will have to prove himself worth of regular playing time, whereas Toro will be bounced around the diamond

Seeing Greinke back in KC is going to be pretty awesome. I went to several of his starts in 2009. I am assuming he was brought in to be a mid season trade chip though, if he pitches well, correct?

I think the Royals genuinely believe they can compete this year.  Greinke might be a trade chip if they're out of the race, but on paper, KC might be a dark horse team

The O's are sticking to their strategy of low-cost one-year deals for veterans, and they'll be scouring the market for such bargains now that a lot of the heavier shopping has been done by other teams

This feels like the trade deadline and the Winter Meetings rolled into one.  Maybe they need a transactions freeze every winter.  Not 99 days stretching into March, but maybe 30. This frenzy has to be good for the game.  They even had a deal on Selection Sunday.

Ramirez is controlled for two years, Bieber for three.  I would imagine the Guards don't entertain much serious Bieber trade chatter unless Ramirez actually did get dealt, since that shifts the entire focus of the organization
