What kind of deal is Koji Uehara looking at this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
Well, at his age I wonder if he'll only be interested in a one-year deal. And teams wouldn't go much beyond that anyway. Then again, Joe Nathan got two years and what, $20MM? I mean, the guy still has absolutely sparkling K/BB numbers. I wouldn't be surprised if a team threw $15MM at him for a single season.

Which current top 20 prospect in baseball ends up never sticking in the Majors?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
Well most will probably "stick" in some sense -- up and down, bench/relief pieces, etc. But half or so probably won't be useful regulars for very long.

2017 opening day catcher for the Atlanta Braves is...?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
Jason Castro?
2:42
There's going to be a lot of musical chairs behind the plate this winter, I think. Hard to guess where people land.
Yaakov
2:42
Do the Mets offer the QO to Walker and will he take it?
Jeffrey Todd
2:42
Oof. Easy before the injury. Now? I'd guess they won't offer it if they don't believe he'd be worth it, and he and his medicals would be aware of the same, so maybe he says no? OTOH, he'd have an awfully tough market with that after the surgery.
2:43
I'll say he doesn't get it.

Trea Turner has made me realize - Mike Rizzo has to be just about the best GM in the game, right? That dude's trade record is outrageous.
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
He has pulled off some absolute heists. Players like Roark, Ramos, Turner, Ross, Rivero, Treinen/Cole all came over without giving up anything that hurt.

2:44
any update on the CBA talks?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
Mostly just more general positivity.
If there were real areas that could cause problems, I think we'd have heard something.

Who gets the biggest contract besides Yoenis Cespedes this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
EE for me.
Richard
2:45
What would it take for the Dodgers to trade for Twins 2B Dozier? Thank you.
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
Lots. Will be interesting to see if Twins market him and what the demand is. That'll depend on who takes over in Minny, too.
Jeff
2:46
1L right now, what advice would u give to me 6 weeks in?
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
Don't forget that you enjoy baseball and other things. Life is about much more than a career.

Guess at Melancon contract?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
3/36
Man I am just slinging some numbers out there today, going to end up looking dumb.

2:48
If Ramos signs extensions with Nats will I have a better chance at a larger deal given slow catcher market this off season?
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Well that's probably not happening. But even if it does, the Nats would be in the market for a catcher, so overall demand would generally remain the same.

Do the managers have a union?
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Not that I'm aware. They are typically repped by agents.

Any other countries you know you have readers from?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
I've seen plenty of other mentions during chats and often publish them ... I know I recall Germany and Spain off the top of my head. Perhaps someone mentioned Korea and I think a Latin American nation or two.

Giants need melancon and chapman next year, agree? Or do u see them adding RP's on minor league deals or improving the pen internally like they've done in the past?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
Need is an awfully strong way to put the idea of adding two of the three best FA relievers. I could see them going after a big arm, sure, but a fully functional pen requires more than that. They do have a fair number of promising, younger pitchers around -- no reason not to believe in the talent unless they've changed their assessment. But adding a premium arm and a sturdy veteran, say? Sure.

Does that Nationals offer of "a bit more than" 3/30 as big of an insult as the Red Sox offer to Lester?
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
All depends upon how it's communicated. If they said, "look, this is what Cervelli got and it's what we're willing to do," then I don't think it's insulting.
Matt
2:52
Is McCann to Atlanta not realistic?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
I think it is. I wouldn't call it likely though.
Matt
2:53
Is there an team that would trade a 1-2 starter for Inciarte?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
A fully-established 1/2 starter? No, unless perhaps it was a team that doesn't expect to contend and the player doesn't come with affordable control. But I bet they could find a nice arm by dangling him. He's been a 4+ win guy despite the tepid hitting.
Or thereabouts.

Players are repped by agents but they have a union....
