Can the Phillies sneak in and grab Cutch before the Nats snag him and what will it cost us
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
... or give up a lot for a guy with 2?
JB
2:58
Is all of this just window-dressing...are the Cubs just by far the best team at this point?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
Maybe, but can we be sure their SP will hold up? Pressed them hard. Can Hendricks repeat? Lackey is old. Arrieta was shaky in the 2nd half. Etc.

Would Brach get you Granderson? O's would still have O'day,Givens and Britten at the back end of bullpen.
Jeffrey Todd

Doesn't seem worth it to me to give up a cheap, quality pen arm (even if there's a risk he doesn't keep it up) for an expensive corner OF when there's a market full of options.
Matt W
3:00
Does Boston sign someone like Matt Holliday to be there next DH, or do they go in-house?
Jeffrey Todd
3:00
I expect they'll sign someone.
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
I'm an Angels fan and don't like answering Astros questions because I'm butt hurt.
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
I answered 2 or 3, but ok.

How do you figure Ramo's injury cost him 50MM? Shwarber had a similar knee injury and the Yankees were ready to part with top assets to get him so it seems it didn't affect his value at all
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Well, Ramos is a free agent whose guarantee is going to be substantially impacted. He has also had the injury before. As I said, I think he could still make up most or all of the loss, but it's now in question. Trade value of a controllable asset is a different matter. But certainly Schwarber's value was impacted, in terms of what the market would give, even if the Cubs weren't at all inclined to downgrade it.

Is Jorge Mateo irrelevant now with Gleyber Torres winning AFL MVP
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Not at all. Prospects are still prospects. And if both miraculously hit their ceilings, hurray for positional flexibility and the ability to trade.

Zach britton to the dodgers for joc pederson? who says no?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Zero chance Dodgers bite on that. Check Joc's stats. Big numbers from a CF.

Eovaldi to the Cubs make sense? #5 SP competition.
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
For the record, he's going to miss all of 2017.
Kyle B
3:05
Which of these 4 Reds will be elsewhere by end of offseason (DatDudeBP, Cozart, Votto, Hamilton)?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
In order of trade likelihood: Zack, Dude, Billy, Joey.

Would Mets trade Bruce for David Robertson? Would white sox agree to that deal?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
In terms of the players, sure, the Mets would. But I don't know how much interest the Sox would have in Bruce, and I don't know that the Mets want to take on that much commitment to a reliever.
Ramos Shamos
3:07
Why do teams go crazy for a guy who follows up several bad years with one good one (Ramos, Trumbo, Desmond, etc.)? This is supposed to be the era of smart front offices.
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
None have signed yet. In any case, they'll be looking at their talent, health, projection, etc, not just 2016 stat lines.

How about Britten to the Dodgers for Urias?
Jeffrey Todd
3:08
Nope, sorry. Urias was fantastic in the big leagues as a teenager.

Instead of trading for Sale/Archer, can the Braves use the same pieces for a Bregman trade or something comparable for 3B?
Jeffrey Todd
3:09
Here's the deal with trade scenarios: you have to put yourself in the shoes of the other team, too. Why would the Astros give up a controllable, everyday, current MLB piece for prospects when they are trying to contend?
joe king

miggy to the astros for prospects. yes ?
Jeffrey Todd
3:10
Never understood this rumor. He's owe soooo much money. And has a full NTC.

Bring something healthy and pair with delicious, frothy beer.
Or 3 brats.

Do you like the Holliday to Yanks fit?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
Sure. They have some flexibility. Guess Beltran would fit somewhat better, but they can pursue multiple possibilities to add some slug.
Busy meter
3:12
Busy Winter meetings compared to past years or no?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
Will be a lot of sorting out the meaning of the CBA. No massive changes, but a lot of interesting tweaks that will have ripple effects. I can imagine a lot of trades, even if there aren't a lot of really interesting open FA situations.
Bobby cox

Does Atl believe that Matt Kemp can man right field or left field with no defensive liability and is he going to still continue to produce the plate
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
I think they believe he's good enough to toss out there and see what they get at the plate. I don't really buy the idea that some fans have that they think he's some monster in the middle of the order that they stole out from under everyone else's noses.
