Probably still Harper, since he has shown elite skill in basically all areas at various points. Could argue similarly for Bryant, I suppose. Perhaps Betts.

Who will the Blue Jays target
Jeffrey Todd
2:34
This is one of those situations where they will either end up looking brilliant b/c they snatch up a couple good players for nothing, or looking dumb b/c the guys they end up with struggle. Sort of like the White Sox last year. Latos, Austin Jackson, etc looked like nice values. But it didn't pan out.
2:35
Far as targeting, not clear they are really doing that at this point so much as trying to maximize what they can get at a preferred price point. Just my impression.
Cards
2:35
Are the Cards set?
Jeffrey Todd
2:35
Most likely, yeah.

You see Gattis back in Houston? Seems like a good guy to move for pitching. Maybe to Washington instead of them signing Wieters? Gio Gonzalez back? Anything like that possible?
Jeffrey Todd
2:36
I don't see that fit, personally. Certainly not for Gio.
2:37
I'd be surprised if Gattis brought back much of value. If they really believe in him behind the plate, they won't be willing to trade him. So if they are calling teams to see if they want to take Gattis, that's a pretty good signal about what Houston thinks he's capable of as a catcher.
As a DH, he's not a very exciting player.
To be clear, I still love Oso Blanco.

Am I a Bust yet?
Jeffrey Todd
2:37
Nope.
2:38
Expectations might have changed, but plenty of time to reach the ceiling.
Sean
2:38
Will it take more money to lock up Lindor than it took to land Encarnacion?
Jeffrey Todd
2:38
Yes. More spread out, of course.
Kip
2:39
Gary Sanchez - .290, 37, 125 - realistic?
Jeffrey Todd
2:39
I guess it's realistic, but also quite optimistic.

Do you see the Os as the lead on signing Trumbo?
Jeffrey Todd
2:40
Still make the most sense, yeah, and I can't imagine he'll get more money elsewhere. Unless the Rockies really think he'd be a great fit at first, I guess.
Cutch
2:40
What do you think about Quintana 3 team trade? Cutch? Glasnow? Yankees & Prospects?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
I never really understood that concept, unless it involved the Pirates sort of dumping Cutch's salary b/c of the great opportunity that arose, and the Yanks being there to make a really nice value play. But that just doesn't seem to make that much sense.
Kevin

Do the cubs need to sure up their rotation depth?
Jeffrey Todd
2:41
Wouldn't hurt. Bet they're still lurking on some arms.
Danny
2:42
Which trade package do you like more? The Yankees' Miller bounty or the Nationals' return for Adam Eaton?
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
I don't really know, but it's kind of funny that people are so concerned with what the Nats gave up for 5 cheap years of Eaton when it's at least arguably comparable to what the Indians gave up for 2.5 affordable but not super cheap years of an elite reliever.
Jeff Todd
2:43
You needed to add a "WHOA!!!!!!!!!" to that Ladson reply. C'mon, man.
Jeffrey Todd
2:43
True.
WHOA!!!!
Love that.
Al Avila
2:44
We've done a great job getting younger, cheaper and more athletic, huh?
Jeffrey Todd
2:44
Opportunities have to be there. Can't just go dumping a guy like JD Martinez for whatever you can get, when you're still a plausible contender.
2:45
It was always going to be hard to make trades from that roster, in large part due to the no trade clauses but also the age and massive numbers. This is how you see a connection to the Phillies ... hard to engineer a smooth landing for your years of competition under these circumstances.
Jefferey Tod
2:45
Where do you think Joe Blanton will land? Josh Harrison if traded?
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
I don't understand your 2-part question, but I do wish to change the spelling of my name to this version.

Where's the Gallardo, Jimenez, and Miley buzz this offseason? Figured there might be a nibble.
Jeffrey Todd
2:46
Like the hum of a small a/c unit.
