Not much reason to expect hot pursuit of those pitchers. And the notion that the O's rotation is overstuffed is a bit oversold, IMO. Just b/c you have 6 hypothetical starters doesn't mean you have adequate depth.

Should Dodger fans expect contributions from Bellinger, Walker Buehler and Yadiel Alvarez this upcoming season given management's reluctance to include them in deals??
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
I don't see a connection.
Ross Atkins
2:48
What's it going to take for me to get Cargo? Rather than Blackmon
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Doesn't seem like the Rockies are interested in trading him at his actual value, which isn't that high with one year and $20MM on his contract. He hasn't really been all that productive of late, either.

What's the highest you'd go to extend Yu Darvish? Dk you think it's possible someone gives him over 175k?
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
His health history is about as concerning as Strasburg's, and the two have both pitched at about the same levels when healthy. So that's a good comp (7/175). But Darvish is, what, 2 years older? So you'd probably at least need to drop a year.
2:51
As far as what he can command in the open market, that's heavily dependent upon his next season, but he could conceivably earn something like the David Price contract, with a discount for the health concerns. Maybe that's not the clearest comp, but there isn't really another pitcher that's landed in that realm in FA.
2:52
Greinke, of course, but different situation w/age and historic season and Dbacks bein' Dbacks.
Tallulah
2:52
Realistically, what would it cost to get Cain from KC. Not necessarily looking for specific players, but what type of package. I would love him in Queens.
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
Conforto? I don't think Royals are interested in prospects.
David

How much fun is it when you spend ten paragraphs with tons of sources and research, post it to the site, and the first comment is some pithy complaint because you spelled a word wrong?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Well, that is annoying, but mostly b/c I screwed up. And I'm generally relieved to see the correction right away, so I can fix it and limit the number of people who think I suck.
Cutch
2:54
Will Pirates pull trigger on Quintana trade if it involves giving up Cutch and Glasnow?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
I think they'd make that deal, but I don't know that's available to be made.
Grayson
2:54
Who has done worse on their rebuild; the Reds or the A's?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Even if you don't love all of what the Reds have done, they have found some players and still have a lot of guys who will get their shots. A's really aren't rebuilding, per se, and I think it's hard to defend the Josh Donaldson deal in particular. (Butler signing, too, fwiw.)
Jacoby Ellsbury
2:56
Did I completely pull the wool over the Yankees eyes or will I rebound in one (or 2) of my remaining 4 years?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
If anyone pulled wool over the eyes of the Yankees, it was the Yankees.
Well, and maybe Scott Boras, ha.
2:58
But look, Ellsbury was what he was. It seemed like a lot of money at the time. At 33 years of age now, it's kinda hard to see him returning value on the rest of the contract.

Was 2016 peak-Christian Yelich and peak-Gregory Polanco or is there still room to grow for each?
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
I don't know the details on Yelich's power surge, but there have always been those that thought he could develop in that regard. He's young and a great all-around hitter; don't see why it wouldn't continue.
3:00
Polanco is obviously not as polished a hitter, but I don't see why he won't continue to hit for power as he continues to grow into his frame. Question will always be whether he can keep that OBP in the palatable range, but you can imagine him remaining steady or even growing.
Guess I would continue to see more variability in Polanco, up or down, than w Yelich.
Rockies hopeful
3:01
Rockies sign Trumbo or Moss, move Dahl plus prospect to CWS for Quintana... Makes them a contender ??
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
That would certainly make them a contender in my book. Already are a fringe contender. I don't hate the idea, honestly, though surely you'd rather keep Dahl's cheap control and move someone else instead. And also I'm assuming they aren't overpaying for the slugger type they'd add at first.
Danny Duffy
3:02
Am i going to be traded? If so where?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
I'd guess the Cubs would be interested, among others. Those teams already matched up once this winter.
3:03
But as with Cain, who I addressed already, I think the Royals will want a MLB return.
Jack
3:04
Hi Jeff. What team do you think Mike Napoli signing with. When do you think we can expect it to happen too. Thanks big fan, and first time question asker.
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Well thanks Jack.
I do still like the fit with the Rangers, but there are others that could make sense, too. Mariners stand out somewhat. Maybe even Rays or Jays?
Andy
3:05
Do you think the Cards trade Matt Adams? If so what kind of return do you think they'll get? Similar to what they got for Garcia?
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
I guess if there's just no demand out there b/c of all the free agents they could keep him as a bench bat, but I still think he'll likely be dealt. I'd expect less of a return than they got for Garcia.
Uh-huh
3:06
Wow, does Bautista goes back ti the Jays for less than the qualifying offer??
Jeffrey Todd
3:06
Dunno, but I'd like that for Toronto if so.
NAT the hat
3:06
Why the hate for Jay Bruce?
Jeffrey Todd
3:07
He just hasn't been that good, at least consistently, when you look at his recent track record. And he's not super cheap. And there are lots of similar guys available in FA (depending upon how you view his glove, at least).

Any thoughts on Lucroy staying with the Rangers?
