Does "fake" mean "real" now? Is this a trick question? I'm so confused.
Bernie Brewer

There is definitely a glut of hitters sitting on the FA market and their prices dropping (I can't imagine some of the discussions between agents and players). Do you see this as a one year anomaly, or a trend that might stretch forward with the new CBA.
Jeffrey Todd
2:18
It's just a reflection of the types of players. Older sluggers with questionable OBP/gloves, generally. I think teams are valuing versatility and such, so they don't want to pay what we're used to seeing for the dingers.
2:19
So in some regards it reflects a trend, but it's more indicative of the large # of this kind of asset. It's also not like good hitters are suddenly going to be paid less.

Are you buying that the Giants are laying in the weeds waiting for prices to drop or are they really gonna go with the kids and just deal at the trade deadline?
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
I think they are lying in the weeds, but could just slink off and wait if a good oppo doesn't arise.

In your opinion the odds the NYY trade Tanaka at deadline and if not the odds he opts out after this year.
Jeffrey Todd
2:20
Low/High
I think they'll be too competitive to sell him.

Why would a Matt Cain plus prospects for Ryan Braun be so far fetched?
Jeffrey Todd
2:21
Because Matt Cain hasn't been useful in years and Braun is still a very good hitter?
If he's just offsetting salary, then okay, but he's otherwise essentially inconsequential to such a trade.
OL PERFESSER
2:22
Quintana will be worth twice what he is worth now come trade deadline.
Jeffrey Todd
2:22
Nah. Just they could have a little more leverage. So long as he doesn't get hurt.
Similar situation to Cole Hamels.
Andrew
2:23
I know we haven't heard a lot on it, but who would the Rangers match up with in a trade for one of their relievers?
Jeffrey Todd
2:23
Way too many hypothetical possibilities to really nail that down. They have lots of different relievers that could conceivably be traded.
2:24
If it's Jeffress, though, I'd guess other teams will be looking to get a relative bargain. His off-field stuff is legitimately concerning.
Craig
2:25
If you had to guess, who's playing 2B for LAD this year?
Jeffrey Todd
2:25
If I had to just pick one guy, I might still guess Dozier.
Otherwise maybe Utley/RHB.
2:26
Kike Hernandez, etc

Jeffrey Todd is an idiot who hasn't answered anything at all with substance. Lol.
Jeffrey Todd

LOL!

Jays are in a rebuild.

Thanks Obama

What do you expect out of Segura this year with Dyson ahead of him and Cano/Cruz/Seager likely behind him?
Jeffrey Todd
2:28
Lineup protection is still mythical. I do think there's some reason to believe his downturn related to the tragic loss of his son. I mean, who wouldn't take that into work with them? That makes it easier to believe in the resurgence, though certainly a little regression should be anticipated.
Teffrey Jodd

Did the Rays get enough for Smyly?
Jeffrey Todd
2:29
It seems okay for his present value. He was roughed up a bit last year and has only two fairly expensive years of control left. Plus, he's never been very durable.
But they might have been justified in waiting and letting him establish value. Presumably, though, this was more palatable than instead dealing a different starter.
Red Dragon

What do the A's do with Ryon Healy now ?
Jeffrey Todd
2:30
It doesn't seem they really ever thought he could play third, so he'll probably mostly play at first and DH.
Bob
2:30
I know it is a dirty word but shouldn't the White Sox tank a little more. They still look like a 75 win team. That isn't a top 3 pick.
Jeffrey Todd
2:31
I don't think that's the strategy. Unlike, say, the Phillies the White Sox had some pretty darn good pieces to deal. So, they were able to turn them into appealing, upper-level prospects. That might mean they don't need to do the whole, lengthy process.
Stenzy

Why is Todd Frazier not a Giant yet? Makes too much sense with Arroyo a year away and Nunez better as a bench bat.
Jeffrey Todd
2:32
It does seem like a good fit. Plus, he just seems destined to play for that team.
JT

Os are running out of time to get blasted for a player failing their physical.
Jeffrey Todd
2:32
Several of those have come late in the offseason. Plenty of time yet.

Will you be in Arizona or Florida this spring?
