Going back about 6 weeks... How tired must the Nats have been of Espinosa's act if they shipped off a guy who can play three IF positions well, contribute 400 meaningful plate appearances, all for a reasonable price for two A-Ball pitchers with very limited upside?

I think they realized he wasn't going to be a very good presence as a bench guy. And the money can be reallocated.
Also, don't sleep on the pitchers. I have no idea who they are, but Rizzo turns throw-in pitchers into gold all the time.

why are so many people all in on the rockies reducing their defense and adding a lot more strikeouts to a relatively free swinging offense as it is to bring in Trumbo or Carter? The position player starters are set. Possibly the most athletic group in baseball

Guess it depends whether you think there'd actually be a loss in D. Moving out CarGo for Desmond might be roughly neutral.
Less overall athleticism, sure, but you'd also (in theory) be adding to the pitching staff to do this. I still prefer it, without knowing what's specifically available.

He can still play third and hit bombs and isn't super expensive. Could be a QO guy after the year. So I think they should ask for something decent or hold onto him.
