Epstein said this week that he expected Heyward to have a big year based on all the work he put in this offseason. you buying?
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
Keith Law says scouts tell him the bat is still slow ... which is sort of an issue that goes beyond mechanics. We'll just have to see. He's definitely young enough and hit enough in the past to think he should be able to rebound at least somewhat.

Man, remember those VHA baseball bloopers? Is it me or was there way more bloopers in the 90's? Pitchers falling down mid windup, runners eating it big time, birds exploding, Canseco...
Jeffrey Todd
2:47
Now that you mention it, yeah, bloopers seem to be on the downturn. Bring back the bloopers!
Sam
2:47
Let's be honest, don't we all kind of miss the steroid era where Sammy and Mark were smashing 60+ bombs each?
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
Steroids or no, it's not really my preferred brand of ball. I'd rather see guys trying to take the extra base, etc. I like seeing things in motion.

Are the Cardinals content with Fryer and Rosario fighting for Yadi's backup spot? I would assume they'll keep Kelly in AAA for at least the start of the year. Kind of a boring question, but it's driving me nuts.
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
They've been content for quite some time to use iffy backups and let Yadi handle the load, and I'd guess they'll continue to do so. If he wears down, etc, could see Kelly come up and help shoulder the load.

Will the Indians ever drop the Chief Wahoo logo? As a fan who has always been uncomfortable with it, it's getting really hard to support them anymore.
Jeffrey Todd
2:50
You're talking to a former Washington NFL team follower who came to the same conclusion. I wish they'd drop it and leave it in the history books.
Seems they are beginning to move in that direction, but not clear exactly when and how it'll disappear.
Marlins Man
2:51
Am I just a gimmick or do you believe in my cause?
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
Echoing the bloopers comment ... I like it weird. Keep being you, Marlins Man.
Ole perfesser
2:52
does any pitching deal ever make sense! Serious Question!!!
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Sure, even some really really expensive ones. What made that unusually confusing was the organization's payroll levels, reasonable expectations of contention, alternative paths to getting quality pitching, and Greinke's age.
Troy
2:53
Are you okay with Tim Tebow being in Mets camp and in games?
Jeffrey Todd
2:54
Guess I backed myself into a corner with my weird baseball comment, but ... I'm not really a fan. He just isn't that good or interesting to me as a baseball player.
Plus he showed up the ump multiple times! Come on man, that's not cool!
Troy
2:55
Would you have given Heyward that deal?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
At the time, yeah.
Hyun Soo Kim
2:55
Any way I get a full time job?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
We'll see if they ease him in against lefties. If he can prove he can hit them, then ... maybe.
Daquan
2:56
Any way the Orioles sign another pitcher aka Doug Fister?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
They have given every indication they are happy with what they have, which is why I didn't mention them when discussing his possible landing spots.
Troy
2:57
Will the A's ever get out of Oakland?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
Seems much more likely they'll get a new park.
Chief wahoo
2:58
No more tradition huh?
Jeffrey Todd
2:58
No more traditions ever. That's the logical extension of this, you're right.
2:59
Not all traditions are worth continuing.
Luke Palmer
2:59
Any word about Billy Butler
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
No word.

"it would be rather bold of an agent (assuming that's where it came from) to just make something up entirely." Isn't this what mystery team rumors are?
Jeffrey Todd
3:02
Not necessarily the same thing. There's a difference between suggesting a mystery team could have interest and giving hard info (there was an offer of x years and y dollars).
Announcers
3:03
Who are your favorite baseball announcers? As a giants fan I feel a little biased in saying Kruk and Kuip are truly some of the best around, but I'm curious if they are recognized outside of Giants Fandom and of who ther other great announcers/ color commentary guys are?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
Man, the other day it occurred to me that Vin isn't going to be calling games anymore. What a bummer.
3:04
In his absence, I kinda like another Giants announcer ... Jon Miller. He handled the O's when I was a kid, so there's a nostalgia there. Just love the feel he gives to a game.
Jim Halpert
3:04
Which team is most likely to move to a brand new city?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
Rays, not that it's likely to happen.
I mean, obviously there's some leeway in a given metro area ... I am referring to a whole new place.

Grade David Stearns' first year & a half on the job?
