But I haven't kept up well enough to comment on the new era.

I struggle to understand the negative view of the Braves offense. They are in the top half of baseball in most offensive stats and have been trending upwards since May. They have a few guys who have been hitting very well for most of the year (Kemp, Inciarte, Flowers, kinda Markakis) and Freddie is supposed to return in the next month. I may be biased being a fan, but I have seen both you and Steve constantly say they are not very good (Jason is a bit more bullish on them).

I didn't say the offense is terrible. Just that keeping Adams around with Freeman at third isn't going to magically make the team a whole lot better. It may be the best option they have, but it has clear drawbacks. Just like sacrificing D to keep Kemp's bat the lineup, etc.

Re: recent report of Hechavaria; why would the Rays trade for *another* injured SS especially when it's 2B/Bullpen help they need?
Jeffrey Todd

Put it in context of the move to add Plouffe. They are looking for ways to get useful assets when they can be  had at bargain prices. I think the Marlins dumping Hech probably qualifies as something they are interested in looking into. Adding depth there accounts for the fact that who the heck knows if/when Duffy will play this year and the general uncertainty in the middle infield mix.

I do respect your view on it and maybe you have the benefit of outside view on the Braves offense I was just wondering
Jeffrey Todd
3:16
Thanks. It is a fair question. I just wanted to add on this: we are looking at the full view of Adams, for instance. Or Adonis Garcia, say, when there was chatter about how he'd be a good option this year. Just trying to be honest from a neutral lens.

Twins are sort of in a "worst case scenario" for a rebuild trade deadline, no? No way they are close enough to actually be major buyers at the deadline but it would be impossible to explain trading away someone like Santana for future players, so they'll likely go status quo.
Jeffrey Todd
3:17
Sorta, though orgs like to put a winning product on the field. Good for the bottom line, which is good for investing in the future product. And it's not like Big Erv is a super premium asset. I know how well he's been pitching and all, and the 2018 control is actually an asset now, but I don't see other teams going wild to get him.
Plus, not the worst thing to have a guy like that under contract at a palatable rate for another year if you are the Twins.

If we submitted an email to be an admin for the MLBTR sports pages, should we expect a response or are you only responding to people you've selected?
Jeffrey Todd
3:18
No clue, but I imagine there are lots of inquiries so it may be we only continue correspondence with those who are under further consideration. I do doubt that Tim has taken a close look as  of yet.

Could Jaime Garcia and a bullpen piece bring back a top 100 prospect?
Jeffrey Todd
3:18
Not if it's my prospect.

Ok the Ben Gamel trade question has to be 100 times worst than mine.  Can't you answer one of them.  But I also know you have lots of questions to answer so I understand.
Jeffrey Todd
3:19
Lots and lots. I noticed this one, which is probably not the one you wanted answered.
Sorry, trying my best!

If the Mets are close to a WC berth in July, shouldn't THEY go after Cozart? They need a SS badly, and they won't bring up Rosario
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Sure, but they are like a dozen games out of the WC right now.
Richard
3:20
Who is a better target for the Jays: Lowrie or Cozart?
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
Kind of an interesting question. Assuming that you're assuming this player will play second, b/c Cozart would clearly be the better option at short.
I still think Cozart is a safer bet. But he may well also cost more in trade assets.
Avisail Garcia

Am I building trade value yet?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Sure, though there's still so much uncertainty there I just think the Sox will end up holding for now.
Matt Harvey

Am I non-tendered after the season?
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
I will think about this. It's not entirely implausible, though I tend to think there's still too much upside to justify that.
Unless the current injury turns out to be a bigger issue than we're currently aware.

Would cardinals consider trading Carlos martinez?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
Doubt it.

When do the royals figure out if Mondesi will be a SS or a 2B?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
Next spring?
Chris

Freeman playing third kinda reminds you of when Miguel Cabrera played third for tigers in 2012, doesn't it?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
No, because Cabrera was a third baseman in the majors previously.
A.J. Preller
3:24
Any chance we can get adeiny hechavarria? If so who do you see going to Miami?
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Sure. Doubt it would cost all that much. THREE TEAM TRADE???
Freddie Freeman
3:25
I was the best hitter in baseball before I got hurt. My bat will play anywhere
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Of course. That's not remotely the point.

Is the BLT the most overrated sandwich? I mean i like bacon and all but unless you put cheese and mayo and stuff on it, it's kinda a boring sandoozle!
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Concur.
3:26
Unless it's really primo ingredients (including bread) and perfectly proportioned.
