Did that dude really just ask if the Nats should trade away Harper if they're running away with the division.  Did he forget that playoffs exist?
Matt
4:20
Everybody should just trade everybody
Mike Hills
4:21
Why do you keep answering the same questions about the Nats and Harper?
Jeffrey Todd
4:21
It was just two. The second one kinda caught me off guard even to read. I am all about creative thinking and not being bound by convention. But sometimes you just have to let your good players play.
Harper
4:21
Why does everyone assume I'm leaving DC? I like it here.
Jeffrey Todd
4:22
When in doubt, just go to the source himself.
ATX Halo
4:22
I took the under on Angels mentions of 2. Unfortunately I'm right again.
Jeffrey Todd
4:23
We chatted them up a lot earlier in the winter, when they were making all their consequential moves. I'm not sure there's a ton to discuss right now. I think we all know the state of play with the pitching staff. Will they/won't they add another? Dunno. As for Ohtani ... not much to do but wait and see.

Don't sit in the RF bleachers for a summer night game at Fenway.  First 5 innings all you will see is the sun in your eyes.
Jeffrey Todd
4:24
Not my experience but I was down on the field. I'm thinking of the lower level near Pesky Pole. Super cool seats.
Can always just wear sunglasses and look even cooler, of course

Heathly Mets > Healthy Nationals. Change my mind.
Jeffrey Todd

You're trying to make David Wright reappear, right?
And turn Matt Harvey back into the Dark Knight?
Holland
4:27
2/$5M from ATL. Worth it?
Jeffrey Todd
4:27
There's no chance he ends up with a contract like that.

Are the Nats going to start with Montero or Severino as their #2 catcher or is it too late to pull of a trade for say Gradall or Realmuto?
Jeffrey Todd
4:28
Grandal definitely isn't being traded. Realmuto, I suppose, still could but it seems the teams have dug in their heels and it'd be a surprise at this point.
I'm guessing Montero. Best preserves depth.
Matt Holliday

Am I getting a call or not?
Jeffrey Todd
4:29
Werth, Bautista, et al ... shrug
M's - Holland
4:29
David Phelps goes down.. So should Dipoto go after Holland? Do the M's have the cash? I really have no idea if they do or not.
Jeffrey Todd
4:30
I really don't either. Seems there have been some differing signals. But I guess I'd be a bit surprised if they went nuts on Holland, like the kind of big multi-year deal he has been seeking.
Man, what rotten luck on Phelps after Smyly.
4:31
Whoa it has gotten late!
I'll do a few more questions and then carry on with my day.
Minor League Player
4:31
How am I going to live off my $100k signing bonus?
Jeffrey Todd
4:32
Pay taxes on it, spread it over ~5 years in the minors and however far you need into the future, and let me know how rich you feel. Also, most players don't get even that level of bonus.
I'm interpreting this question as a knock on the idea minor leaguers are underpaid, but could be wrong.

1. Your "They want to re-sign Harper" argument only works if holding onto him is a prerequisite to signing him, which it isn't.
Jeffrey Todd
4:33
There are like 73 reasons they are not trading him. That's just one, and not a particularly important one.
JacknCoke

Dyson threw again last night, 95 with power sinker in form.   He'd be owed 25% severance, the net net save is ~$2.7M which pro-rated in July does add up to something.  Still not the Giants style, but these are weird times.
Jeffrey Todd

See I knew I wasn't losing my mind. That was the appearance I was referring to!

What are the chances Jose Mesa clears waivers and makes it back to the Yankees' organization?
Jeffrey Todd
4:34
Rather good.

Okay this is my new favorite spring training moment.

Buck Showalter got sunscreen in his eyes and was told to use baby sunscreen. He will not. ā€œI’m not a baby.ā€

I can't believe you called your Mother a "bastard". Would you say "The Boys of Summer" was the best baseball related book you've read?
Jeffrey Todd
4:35
Ha thanks for reading my tweets. That's probably the most memorable book for me b/c I read it at such a young age and it left me loving the game, especially that period.
