Most untradable contract in MLB?  Chris Davis, heyward, choo, greinke, or someone else?
Jeffrey Todd
3:51
Can't go wrong with Davis or Heyward here, as neither has turned the corner at all. But I'd take the former as the most untradeable since he's older and more limited as a player.
3:52
I am not sure how many teams would even give Davis a MLB contract if he hit the open market right now, honestly.
3:53
Perhaps I don't know how much talent they'd feel there still is to unlock, but it has been mediocre or poor since 2016. And with the collapse of the 1B slugger market ...

Can the Angels really hold this pitching staff together to make a run?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
Yeah I think so. Can always go get another arm if needed. (They will.)

Any word on Ubaldo, lackey, Peavey, or Gallardo getting another shot?
Jeffrey Todd

Attn: Billy Eppler
I mean, these guys would probably have signed already if there was a team offering a MLB job or (in spring) a minors deal with a clear path to a MLB job. Otherwise, they have to decide if they want to sit on a bus at Triple-A for a while.
3:55
Gallardo has been pitching, of course, so he's in a bit of a different spot than the others, who have not been with an org and would still need a full ramp-up.

I always hear a lot of talk on the lines of oh if Pitcher A doesn't work out in the rotation he'll be awesome at the back of the bullpen. Why is that so? If they can't get outs in earlier innings what suddenly changes their ability to get outs in later innings?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
Well, it isn't universally true. But some guys have 2 really good pitches but lack the third offering or stamina or repeatable mechanics to really make it as a starter. Some of those guys may be monsters in the late innings.

Which retired MLB player would you most like to see make a comeback?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
This is super easy.
3:57
We all want to know what a 53-year-old Barry Bonds would do.
Brandon Nimmo
3:58
True or false: The Mets need to trade Juan Lagares so they can clear a roster spot for me.
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
I think they could just option Lagares if they really wanted. Wouldn't solve the problem of having too many left-handed-hitting outfielders.

Is it too early to panic?
Jeffrey Todd
3:59
For a .500 start? No reason to panic now.

Will I finish the season with more Ks or more HRs?
Jeffrey Todd

163 strikeouts last year, so ....

Does Danny Duffy get traded?
Gladys

Thank you for hosting these chats! They’re a great way to break up the work day.
Jeffrey Todd
4:01
Guessing no during the season, but they should and probably will listen to offers.
(that was for the Duffy question)
You're welcome Gladys!
(that was for the kind words of Gladys)

Has anyone ever written down all the "un-written" rules of baseball?  Can you send me a copy?
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
I feel like I've seen multiple blog post efforts at this. So long as they do not appear in physical form, perhaps, they are still unwritten.

Is it just me or does Mad Dog on MLb network seem to ramble somewhat incoherently at times and possibly not very good at doing his homework? He makes a lot of mistakes in terms of facts
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
Well .... I don't go to him for my baseball analysis.

With chisenhall going on the DL and the offense struggling, do you see a fit between Melkey Cabrera and the Tribe? Are you surprised he is still unemployed?
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
Could see Melky end up getting a chance in the right situation. I guess there's some possibility there. But he'd still need to go get some ABs at Triple-A.

Do you remember Kirby Puckett?
Jeffrey Todd
4:06
I remember watching him make that leaping grab in the WS when I was like 10.
Betts/Judge
4:07
Who would you build your team around?
Jeffrey Todd
4:07
Putting aside current control rights (Judge has more), I'd take Betts. Lower ceiling but much higher anticipated floor for a longer period of time.
4:08
It's just harder to see Mookie breaking down and only have a 3-year prime. Judge reached the majors at an older age and is a big danged dude. Some of those guys fall apart.
Point is: I'd go with the lower risk option.

This is a question I got from high heat today. What team will be in first place at or near the end of the season Mets, Pirates, or D-Backs?
