Should Tigers' fans be concerned that Mize has not signed?  Surely, they had to be pretty confident of signing him... didn't they?   what a disaster if he doesn't.
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
Zero reason for concern right now.
Rob

What do you think the return for Hand looks like?  1-2 top 10 org prospects + a lottery ticket?
Jeffrey Todd
4:04
When you say "top 10 org" ... I assume you mean guys toward the back of a top 10 list. So, like, maybe top ~300 prospects leaguewide. No, I don't see why that sort of talent level would pique SD's interest.
4:05
Twins have optioned Miguel Sano. Oof.
4:06
Not good for Minny!
Dayton Moore
4:07
Has Danny Duffy’s recent string of decent starts put him back in my trade inventory? Or is it still too soon and he’ll need to continue this all the way up to the deadline to get a return I might consider?
Jeffrey Todd
4:07
Well, he'll have to be healthy to be considered. Which means he'll keep pitching. Which means he's going to have 6 weeks of starts between now and the deadline ... all of which will be more relevant than the ones he just turned in.
4:08
Point being: we still don't know. If he's an ace between now and the deadline, maybe the early-season struggles are mostly overlooked.

Gausman has two more years of team control.  What could he bring in prospects?
Jeffrey Todd
4:09
I mean, it's hard to max him out when he's giving up lots of runs and dingers, even if the K/BB/GB numbers look pretty good.
Feel like they hold there unless he really ramps up over the next month and draws a big offer.
Steve
4:10
When do the 'stros call up Tucker? Or do you think he gets moved?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
Tough to guess whether they will see him as an answer this year, but I dont think they'll hesitate if they think he's ready to roll. I'd be surprised to see him as a trade piece since he fits in the near-term plans.
Josh
4:11
The O’s owe Chris Davis $92 million after this season. That is all.
Jeffrey Todd
4:12
"That is all"???? That's a lot!
Ohhh I see what you mean. Yes, that is all that needs to be said. Yikes.
Lalala
4:13
What do you think of the Rays' "opener" concept? The Dodgers appear to be somewhat in line with them... do you see more teams joining them?
Jeffrey Todd
4:13
I am not greatly offended by it and think it's good that low-budget teams are trying to finagle ways of squeezing out advantages.

Assuming Detroit will continue dealing - who is their most desirable piece? assuming it's NOT Fulmer right now?
Jeffrey Todd
4:15
It's still Fulmer. Otherwise, Castellanos, but he really looks to be riding a BABIP streak.
Teff Jodd
4:17
Why is Dan Duquette running the rebuild if chances are he's not coming back next year?  Don't understand why you want a guy creating your future team if he won't be around long-term
Jeffrey Todd
4:17
Dombrowski did this in Detroit before packing his bags, fwiw.
Not like you're going to fire him and hire a new GM in the next 6 weeks.
Johnny Mo
4:18
Should I trade Weaver or Flaherty as a center piece to add a bat to chase down the Brewers and Cubs?
Jeffrey Todd
4:18
No they will be needed in that effort, and in future efforts.
4:19
Sorry for answering so many O's questions, btw, but like 50% of the questions in here are about Bmore.
They are incredibly bad.
Michael
4:20
Would a trade package involving Aaron Hicks + Tyler Austin/Brandon Drury fetch a 2/3 SP?
Jeffrey Todd
4:21
A true 2/3 SP ... meaning, probably, one of the best 50 starters in baseball since I assume we're ignoring those that happen to be #2 arms in crappy rotations. No, that isn't going to do it.
I mean, unless you are talking rental guys, which I assume you aren't.
The KHole in Calhoun's bat
4:22
Does Fletcher make Valbuena expendable? Valbuena is supposed to be a "power bat" but we haven't seen that in 2 years
Jeffrey Todd
4:22
I'd say he's more just plain vulnerable than expendable. Didn't hit much last year and really poor thus far (lotsa Ks) in 2018 for Valbuena. Could be a roster casualty before too long, unless they really see a turnaround coming.
4:23
Couple more and I have to run!
Who even knows
4:25
Think Baez for Hand is more realistic after the Cub's balked last year?
Jeffrey Todd
4:25
Dont' see Javy moving at the deadline.

Idea: Bad Trade Lightning Round. Before you end the chats, rapidly go through the worst trade proposals of the day and you just answer No. to all of them
Jeffrey Todd
4:26
I will try to do this at some point, ha.
Carlos Febles
4:26
Is Whit Merrifield really going to stay THIS good? Selling high this summer seems like the best idea...right?
Jeffrey Todd
4:27
Looks like a solid piece for sure, but yeah they ought to be amenable to dealing him while he's got a ~1.5 year track record of high-quality play.
