Okay ... folks, I'm getting lots of questions like this on JTR. Are we talking about the same guy? He's an outstanding catcher.

If you had to predict one move the Braves are going to make, what would it be?
Jeffrey Todd
3:51
Hire Peter Moylan to their player development staff?
They really have so much flexibility that I find it hard to just see a clear situation that makes particular sense.

Biggest contract this offseason goes to...

Will Robbie Ray get traded this offseason?
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
It is very plausible but by no means certain.
3:54
I don't like being mushy, but ... it depends upon the offers, in large part. If the DBacks pursue a sort of semi-rebuild, they don't need to get rid of Ray. Arguably, they should keep him in hopes he bounces back in that scenario.
So I dont think he just get dealt for the best offer by any stretch. Needs to be something the DBacks believe in.

Logical free agent starter targets for the Reds this offseason???
Jeffrey Todd

Anibal Sanchez
No really, he had a really interesting season!

How do the Dodgers win the WS in 2019?
Jeffrey Todd
3:56
Most important factor in winning the WS is getting there.
3:57
I mean, I am just not sure you can look at two consecutive WS losses and say they are missing something.
And what, 6 straight NLW titles?
Matt
3:58
Do you think the White Sox go for A grade free agents like Harper or Machado? B grade like Dallas Kuechle? Or stand put
Jeffrey Todd
3:58
There are other options in between that feel much more likely.

Does MLBTR (or any other sites) ever factor injury insurance into evaluations of player deals and team payroll capacity? This has always seemed like a very opaque area in the game
Jeffrey Todd
4:00
Some players have insurance, too. There's a lot in that realm that isn't really known. It's a factor if we know something.
Jon
4:01
Do you think we'll see more contracts like Adam Wainwright's new one with the Cards?  Heavily incentive laden.  Or is this a special case due to his relationship with the club?
Jeffrey Todd
4:02
It isn't a very unique deal - we see that type of contract quite often for guys in that general situation. Sometimes it's a minor-league deal ... Hellickson's contract w the Nats, for example.
4:03
Red Sox just bounced Carson Smith.
hang tight for one second, i'll be right back!

Jose Martinez to the Mariners?
Jeffrey Todd

Not a bad idea

Is there any movement on the GM front for the Orioles?

Which Free Agent(s) you place at the over/under line to having to settle for a minor league contract and an invite to Spring Training? Any surprising players who will NOT get an MLB signing?
Jeffrey Todd
4:07
There always are some, but bear in mind that can be a somewhat false line in some circumstances. E.g., last winter the Nats inked Helli (as just noted) to a minors deal while the Braves gave Chris Stewart a non-guaranteed MLB deal.
4:08
Helli surely could have taken a roster spot with lots of other teams but preferred the opportunity and earning upside in DC
Michael brantley

Can I get a 3-year, 60 million dollar deal like my buddy Carlos Santana did last winter?
Jeffrey Todd
4:08
I'd be stunned.
Rockies
4:09
How do you see the right side of the Rox infield playing out? Does Desmond stay at first or does he move to left and the team gets a first baseman? Do the Rockies sign a 2nd baseman, or are internal options getting the first crack at it?
Jeffrey Todd
4:11
I don't really see why they wouldn't move Desmond into the OF mix with the numerous lefty bats they have out there, first of all. There should be loads of first or second basemen on the market for appealing prices this year. Many could see appeal in hitting at altitude if their markets collapse. Supplement or supplant Hampson and McMahon.

Have you guys thought of expanding the top 50 list due to the depth of this free agent class?
Jeffrey Todd
4:14
I am not sure that stands out to me. Honestly we have been debating which of like 12-15 guys we most want to include at the end of the list, and we don't feel all that strongly on any of them.

Expect another loud offseason for the Halos? With only 2 more years on trout's current deal, gotta think some postseason success is necessary for angels to have any shot at keeping him.
Jeffrey Todd
4:15
Their payroll has been very steady. If it remains so, they don't have a lot of room to spend. I have talked myself into the idea, though, that they will move it up this winter.
