As a pitcher, Verlander was less helped by the sign-stealing, so he shouldn't be impacted.

We also don't know how this scandal will play over time.  In 15-20 years when we're weighing HOF cases for Altuve, Bregman, etc. it might be just a weird early-career (in Bregman's case) footnote rather than a major disqualifying factor

I wouldn't be totally surprised if the A's have quietly had a few talks about Semien, since he can be a free agent after the season.  But since the A's likely consider themselves legit WS contenders, they're happy to just keep Semien and (if necessary) recoup the draft pick if he indeed leaves.

I wouldn't be entirely confident that Seager is an upgrade, since he's entering his age-32 season.
Don't forget, at this time last year we were wondering if Seager was declining and if Carpenter was one of the game's underrated superstars

Washington was a finalist for the Padres job, so you can't close the door on him becoming a manager again.

But in general, teams these days are more apt to hire younger, more analytically-inclined managers who are fresh off the playing field rather than veteran guys like Washington

Luis Urueta (D'Backs bench coach) is getting interviewed, and Mark Kotsay's name has also been mentioned.  Aside from that, not much news.  It could be that the Sox are waiting to see what happens with their own sign-stealing investigation before making a hire

Thanks!  I also think highly of Verdugo, and if I'm LA, I lean more towards giving him an everyday shot this season rather than trade him (even for someone as great as Betts)

Nothing in almost two months.  Not to say that a deal couldn't still happen, but it could've been an instance of Milwaukee floating his name out there just to gauge what teams were willing to offer.  If one club stepped forth with something too good to pass up, then the Brewers would've moved, but I don't think they're too upset about sticking with Hader in their pen

They spent some cash this offseason to bring in some legitimately MLB-caliber ballplayers in an effort to get better.  That bodes well for their willingness to spend on bigger acquisitions when the time comes to contend
