Puig to the Twins?  Eddie/Cave/Kepler all LH bats plus Buxton cannot play 100 games a year anyhow so inevitably Kepler will end up in CF for 60 games.
Mark P
10:15
Makes sense on paper, but unless Puig is just willing to sign anywhere at this point, he is likely still holding out for a starting job, not a semi-platoon situation like the one Minnesota can offer
Who says no

Stanton for Hosmer
Mark P
10:16
Stanton, since he has a no-trade clause

Am I a Twin in 2021?
Mark P
10:17
Apparently there were some talks about a potential extension: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/01/twins-notes-cruz-donaldson-hill...
10:18
As I wrote at the time, a one-year extension covering 2021 seems like a sensible move for both sides.

Isn't a major league baseball team  splitting the season between two cities an awful idea?
Mark P
10:20
if the cities were close to each other (or, you know, in the same country), I can see some logic in the idea.  But splitting a season between Montreal and Tampa/St. Pete, of all places, is such a bizarre concept.

How come the CBT did not go up once and even though they added an extra roster spot? And how come nobody is talking about that?
Mark P
10:22
The CBT does go up every year.  Last season it was $206MM, this year $208MM, and in 2021 it'll be $210MM.
Sorry I'm late

Seems the Astros rotation has some major question marks.. are they still the favorites in the West?
Mark P
10:24
i'd still say yes, but Oakland is underrated by a lot of people.  And the Astros' pitching does seem to be an issue.

Beatles or Elvis?
Mark P
10:25
With all respect to the King, the Beatles

10:25
Does Yasiel Puig to Texas make sense? The could have Joey Gallo in center.
Mark P
10:27
Texas seems resistant to using Gallo as a regular CF, but theoretically he could be moved around to several different positions.

That said, there's also an argument to be that Gallo could or should just be kept in one stable spot since he's the Rangers' best hitter, and to help keep him healthy after last year

Due to the scandal, is Houston diminished in the eyes of future free agents as a place to play? Similarly, are Houston players involved in the scandal going to face a more difficult free agent market?
Mark P
10:30
We won't really know the answer of those questions for a few years to come, but we'll get a big litmus test early on with George Springer's free agency this coming offseason.  For really elite guys like Springer, it probably won't hurt his value much (a big year in 2020 will still get Springer paid), but for more borderline guys, I could see it having an impact

How did Hanley Ramirez production fall of a cliff?
Mark P
10:32
Injuries were a factor, but Hanley is far from the first player to just hit a decline phase once he hits 30

10:33
Phillies in worse shape than we thought ?
Mark P
10:34
I still have some big questions about their rotation, but it's possible we're being too pessimistic about the Phillies' chances.  For one, the managerial change might end up being a big help, since the jury is still out on whether or not Kapler is an effective MLB manager.

Have the site ever considered chats devoted strictly to one division or team?
Mark P
10:35
The questions would probably get pretty repetitive pretty fast.  I like having a wide-open chat about all 30 teams and any other baseball matters (plus, you know, my preference in Pixar movies or other fun randomness)

When do you think reports of the red Sox investigation will come to light and the potential punishment for Alex Cora since he is responsible for two cheating scandals
Mark P
10:37
According to Rob Manfred, some resolution is expected to come on the Red Sox investigation by the end of the coming week.  Cora is definitely being suspended, but I feel it'll be a long time (if ever) before he works in MLB again.

Why are all these people trying to trade me?
Mark P
10:38
Yankees fans have soured on you already, and want your contract off the books as soon as possible, as illogical or unlikely as these trade proposals may be

Can you see giants fighting for a playoff spot sometime in the next two to three years ?
Mark P
10:44
I wouldn't be surprised.  2-3 years is a long time in baseball terms, and the Giants will have almost all of their big contracts off the books by then and be able to spend.
In the Giants' perfect world, they have Bart and Ramos as centerpiece young stars and they can sign a few other big free agents around them

What will it take for Dodgers to sign Betts instead of becoming a free agent?

North of $400MM
