Don't believe so.
Protocols
2:44
why are we seeing hugs, high-fives, close proximity celebrations, etc? Seems like protocols were put in place for PR but are not being sufficiently enforced
Jeffrey Todd
2:45
I'm not sure they should be doing fines, etc. I think it's more of a thing that teams need to enforce with good leadership.
2:46
I also think there's a reasonableness point that's important. Reaching out and slapping (gloved) hands while passing by someone is simply not a likely transmission event.
2:47
We shouldn't get caught up on covid theater. We should focus on strong steps and protocols to actually prevent transmission. Don't let players stay in close proximity, especially indoors or in places (dugouts) without good airflow. And wear masks.

2:47
They seven-inning double header rule might be the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Jeffrey Todd
2:48
I don't agree. They know they're going to have to schedule a lot of them to make the season work. They will destroy players' bodies if they push too hard.

Why not set up a bubble. These guys can tolerate a couple months at a resort
Jeffrey Todd
2:49
Bubble would have to be unmanageably large.
Tommy Kahnle going for MRI and visit to Dr. Ahmad after experiencing forearm tightness.
Not so good.

The players have loved complaining about mlb. “I’m not happy about making only $5 million this year” “even though we’re getting tested every other day and have access to the best medical staff We feel unsafe”. Is it just me that thinks it’s incredibly poor taste?
Jeffrey Todd
2:51
I mean, you're probably not alone, but I don't agree with you. Most guys don't earn close to that much. And they are human beings who are concerned about the physical well-being of themselves and their family members (and teammates and coaches and trainers and the general public).

Man you must really like baseball to give up that lawyer salary. I’m glad MLB trade rumors has you instead though!
Jeffrey Todd
2:52
Much more to life than money! Thanks.
Is it my approach?
2:53
I've been asking questions in these chats for a couple years and I'm still battle zero.  Any tips to help me break through?
Jeffrey Todd
2:53
Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't. Seriously, no rhyme or reason ... we fly through the questions trying to find as many we can answer as possible.

So I feel like I should be panicking for my Halos. Especially with Trout out. Any thoughts or idea to fix this?
Jeffrey Todd

Can the Halos dig out and make the postseason?

I didn't know you were a lawyer, Jeff.  What kind of law did you practice before starting at MLBTR?
Jeffrey Todd
2:55
Litigation at a big firm in DC.
Disappointed fan

Why are players allowed to leave the hotel when traveling? This will never work.
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
Even that doesn't mean it's foolproof. Lots of coming and going just in the traveling.
But ... that would be preferable, certainly.

Do you really see any way the service time issue is solved without a complete overhaul of the current service time system?
Jeffrey Todd
2:57
No, I don't.
Jeff

Are there any relief pitchers on the market the Rangers may have interest in? I saw the Whitesox release Kelvin Herrera.
Jeffrey Todd
2:59
Marlins been snatching up everyone with a pulse. Herrera is not looking himself.

What's going on with me?
Jeffrey Todd

Was under the weather so held out for precautionary purposes. Negative for COVID. (8 tests, he says, which ... dang.)

What is Brodie van Wagenen's future under new ownership?
Jeffrey Todd
3:01
Really hard to say. It'll obviously depend whether a new owner wants to have a clean slate, how active they want to be, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like Cohen came in and decided to seek a team president type that would help oversee and make decisions on the top baseball ops personnel. Think a Shapiro/MacPhail type.

Is Pujols worth anything at this point?
Jeffrey Todd
3:03
He hasn't been an average hitter since 2016.

Interesting what Dusty Baker said after Kelly's suspension. He said it's "fair..." I would have asked the follow up question that it is "fair" that none of Astros players got suspended for cheating?
Jeffrey Todd
3:04
I mean, I get the complaint on one level. But there was no legal basis for Manfred to suspend the Astros players (arguably due to his/the league's own incompetence in failing to bargain the issue).
Kiermaier's Piercing Green Eyes
3:04
"Enforce with good leadership"? I totally get where you're coming from, but MLB's "good leaders" are guys who want to play ball, not epidemiologists. The "good leaders" of the Marlins, apparently in charge of decisions of player safety, come to mind. Good leaders like Kevin Kiermaier, who after the team had a walkoff celebration straight out of the before times replete with hugs, stated that he has no regrets and that keeping everyone motivated is important.
Jeffrey Todd
3:05
I agree, but those guys aren't going to listen to the nerds upstairs either ... at least until they get the message that it is the only way the season is going to happen.
