What about the padres with perdomo? I feel like they should option him and gain an extra year of control while also allowing the padres to keep some of the out of option arms they have. Wait for one of the pitchers on the MLB roster to get hurt and bring perdomo up.

Yeah, that's what I'd expect. He has to spend some time in the minors to push his FA back a year and there's no way they're giving him more than 30 starts, anyways. And it gives them time to further evaluate Clemens and Cosart and see if Chacin, Weaver and Richard can build up some trade value. I think Perdomo will be a big part of their next contending team.

I think they see what they have in Clevinger, Merritt, Frias, Plutko. I imagine one of those guys could step up and give them a decent No. 5 starter. Bummer about Carrasco, though. Hopefully it's nothing. Elbow discomfort usually is something.

Not stars, but I think they'll be productive. Suarez ... .753 OPS, 22 HR, 27 2B, 11 SB. Schebler ... .768 OPS, 18 HR, 22 2B.

Once his price dropped enough, it became a good deal. They only have to pay Derek Norris $700K. Their bullpen is deep. Just need one guy to hold down that job and Kelley did that last year when given the chance. Treinen, Blanton, Solis, Glover are very good.

It's Finnegan or Feldman and I don't think Feldman has the kind of reputation where he's get the nod over a guy who has been there. Finnegan was also very good in the 2nd half of last season so he deserves it.

Unless he retires because he doesn't have it anymore (too early to tell if that's the case), I see him in the rotation at some point. I'm surprised they haven't signed Colby Lewis or Doug Fister.

I think Hoffman gets one. I have Marquez penciled in right now, but I don't know if they want to go in that direction yet. If Rusin is healthy enough (back tightness), I think he gets the last spot. I can also see a last-minute waiver claim or trade.

Considering what he did as a 22 yr old and his baseball acumen/work ethic, I think he's capable of being better. Maybe a 25-30+ HR, .800-825 OPS guy in his prime.

Really depends on Wainwright-Lynn-Wacha. If those guys are pitching well and stay healthy (so far, so good this spring), I think they're one of the WC favorites.

Very good chance. Question is whether any team can put together a good enough trade package. I'm guessing it will be a popular topic next offseason and much sooner if the O's aren't in the playoff hunt in July.

Definitely making a case for the rotation, although I think the Reds would prefer that he continues to start in AAA. No reason to put him in the bullpen on a rebuilding team.

Ideally, he wouldn't. The Padres want Luis Sardiñas and Allen Cordoba to win roster spots. Aybar is more of a backup plan. Still too early to tell.

Even if it's a severe strain, he wouldn't miss more than a few weeks of the season. Enrique Hernandez and/or Chris Taylor would probably play SS until he returns.
