Not good.
3:40
If he's convicted, he's going to miss a ton of time.
3:41
First off, he won't even finish his trial until after the season starts. Then, jail time (if it happens). Then, a suspension, when it would be relatively easy for Manfred to nail him to the wall (again, if he's convicted).
And if he actually isn't a US citizen -- this still isn't clear, far as I know -- there really could be immigration consequences.

Does Jurickson Profar supplant Elvis Andrus as the Rangers' shortstop this season?
Jeffrey Todd
3:41
I thought they signed a guy to do that?
3:42
But seriously, I don't think Andrus is 100% guaranteed to hold the job all year. But he'll have every chance not to lose it.
And I really don't know that Profar will end up at SS. Just seems risky with the shoulder, even if he's capable of making the throws for the time being. But I'm sure their doctors know quite a bit more about that than I do.

Any chance the Cardinals can get Aybar and Freeman like some of the fans are saying??
Jeffrey Todd
3:43
I just don't understand this at all. At this stage of the spring, to go from maybe filling a need to striking a huge deal ... no.
Terry Bollea
3:43
Hey Brother, Biggest trade you see actually coming to fruition before Opening Day?
Jeffrey Todd
3:44
Like, maybe Bruce if Cinci can line something up?
If Craig Kimbrel can be traded, then we can't rule anything out, but I'm not expecting anything too earth-shattering.
Aaron
3:45
I read on MLBTR that Adrian Beltre wants a 3 year extension. Do you think the Rangers will give him it?
Jeffrey Todd
3:45
So, I've had some more time to think about this ...
I would be comfortable doing it.
3:46
Yes, he's old. But he's still amazing. Even last year, with his thumb about to fall off, he battled through and was worth like 5 WAR. 3/60 isn't all that much money, and unlike most of the slugger types still hanging around at that age, Beltre might well still be the best defensive player at his position in the game.
Now, will they do it? I'm sure they'll try not to. Could certainly see two guaranteed and a vesting options based on an attainable PA level, with the value floating based on just how many PAs he makes.

Shelby Miller is overrated yes?
Jeffrey Todd
3:47
Let's ask Goose Gossage.
tad
3:48
Hmmm. I guess I disagree about Belt not being that type of player. Better offensive numbers than Heyward (OPS+ 12 points better), and an elite defender that makes the entire Giant's IF better. And, I'm guessing that you don't think being a left-handed thrower is important at 1B, which I also disagree about.
Jeffrey Todd
3:48
Alternative opinion.

Best 1-2-3 order in baseball? Altuve, Springer, Correa?
Jeffrey Todd
3:49
I'm not quite willing to say that, in terms of current year production expectations. Arguably the most valuable three position player assets that any one team has, though.

How long until Jarred Parker's arm spontaneously combusts?
Jeffrey Todd
3:50
Really, honestly hate to say it, but it might've already happened.
3:51
Will be working up a post on it soon as we're done with this chat, though might wait for more info before we run it.

What about puig?
Jeffrey Todd
3:51
Indeed! I'm kind of expecting a big year.

O's playing slo-pitch games this year? Should lead majors in dingers right?
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
As someone who's watched many a game from atop that right field wall in standing room, I wish I was living near the park for the coming season.
Tanner Leonard
3:52
How do you think Kershaw will do ERA-wise?
Jeffrey Todd
3:52
Best pitcher in baseball until proven otherwise.

Can you sum up why the braves have such a crap tv deal? Was it when they signed it? Did something change shortly after that made other teams deals so much higher in $ value?
Jeffrey Todd
3:53
In a nutshell: it was signed before cable TV realized that live sports -- esp baseball, which has so many games -- was the best thing it had going to remain relevant.
Jeff
3:53
1 or 2 teams that will surprise by being bad
Jeffrey Todd
3:54
Well, I know that they won the World Series last year, but the ....
oh, nevermind, they'll probably repeat.

3:54
Do the Rangers really extend belte and continue to block Gallo? Or is a Gallo trade more likely? To someone like Cleveland for a SP?
Jeffrey Todd
3:55
Gallo can play first, DH, or play outfield. Don't see why he'd just be outright blocked or have to be traded. Remember, they'll lose Moreland after the year.
