Throw in Seager and you've got a deal!
Yaakov

Mets bulpenn is a pretty glaring weakness
Jeffrey Todd
4:35
Really? I mean, it may not be some clear strength, but I don't see it being just loaded with questions top to bottom. And the pen is the easiest thing to fix during the season.
KCFAN
4:35
The Cubs have a surplus of OF, any way the Royals pick up someone like Soler and what would it take??
Jeffrey Todd
4:35
That's just really not likely to happen.
Ian
4:36
I feel like people don't give Kershaw enough attention. Isn't he on track to be more than a hall of famer but one of the few greatest pitchers of all time?
Jeffrey Todd
4:36
Yeah, he is. Every year, there are one or two other guys that are in the convo with him for who had the best season. It's just that he is always there -- the others change season to season.
Los Doyers
4:36
Over/Under the Doyers make it to 10 former GMs in their front office by season's end?
Jeffrey Todd
4:37
Are we sure they aren't there already?
Los Doyers
4:37
Will Mike Sciossia ever manage his beloved Doyers?
Jeffrey Todd
4:37
It would be fun to see him match up with Friedman and co., I'll give you that.
Ian
4:37
Favorite site for baseball other than your own?
Jeffrey Todd
4:38
Fangraphs is the other site that really hooked me into this side of the game, along with MLBTR, long before I started writing. It is still awesome.
Luke
4:38
What are the chances that Jon Singleton ever becomes a starting first baseman in the MLB?
Jeffrey Todd
4:39
Not great at this point. I was one of the few people who supported that extension from his perspective when it was announced, fwiw.
AKA22
4:39
Why does your site have so many mobile pop ups? It's so hard to read!
Jeffrey Todd
4:39
Please send issues like this in through the contact form! And wherever possible, include screen shots. We are always trying to improve.
David
4:40
Over/Under on a 90+ win season for the Rangers?
Jeffrey Todd
4:41
I would put TEX at maybe like 88 if I was setting an over/under. And I think they have a chance to be the best team in the AL.
Ben
4:41
Hanley's made a few nice diving plays this spring. Gold Glove? (I'm not being facetious.)
Jeffrey Todd
4:41
Crazier things have happened. He was a shortstop for quite some time, after all.
Tony
4:41
Will Giolito have a Strasburg like media attention?
Jeffrey Todd
4:42
Nothing like that, no. But it'll be closely watched, obviously.
I was at Stras's debut ... it was quite electric. Sat right behind the Pirates' dugout and their players were definitely impressed while walking back after striking out.
Scott Boras
4:43
Any chance MLB rethinks 1 game playoff play in during next labor talk?
Jeffrey Todd
4:44
Haven't heard any suggestion of it. If anything, they'll probably be expanding the number of post-season games while backing off on the regular season schedule. But I've not gotten the sense that those are at the front of the docket right now.
4:45
And honestly, those aren't contentious issues in baseball like they are in football, say. If there's more money to be made, it will be made and shared.
Ben
4:45
If you're a catcher, would you say you're more of a pitch-framer/defensive whiz, or a masher who's stuck behind the plate and can't throw many runners out?
Jeffrey Todd
4:45
I am a catcher. My first game is this weekend, apparently, and I've yet to actually pick up a baseball since last season ended.
And I am much more the framer/blocker/pitch caller type (used to have an arm but it's kinda fallen off) than a masher, for sure.
Bryan
4:46
Who's named the closer storen or Osuna
Jeffrey Todd
4:46
I expect they'll give it to Storen, but we'll find out tomorrow!
Aaron
4:46
Do you see the Rangers adding either a catcher or a starting pitcher? Or are the costs too high?
Jeffrey Todd
4:48
More likely a catcher, as the reports have suggested, but I'm not sure they are going to. They do have a couple guys who are the types of veterans many teams have for depth. (The Astros, otoh, really didn't have that kind of player.) So, they might just grab someone they like a little better than Gimenez and co., but a real upgrade? I don't know. Playing a bit of a game of chicken with the Padres, perhaps.
Yaakov
4:48
If the Mets gave Harvey, Matz, and Conforto could they get Trout?
Jeffrey Todd
4:48
Nope
4:49
We should have a chat dedicated to me shooting down Mike Trout trade proposals, though.
LaRussa's hair dye
4:49
Dbacks 85 wins this year over or under?
Jeffrey Todd
4:49
I'd set the over/under just a smidge below that, but it's in the right ballpark for my expectations.
JT

Do you find that statistical analysis takes away from the simple enjoyment of baseball games? Too much thinking, not enough enjoying?
