Is it worth it for the Red Sox to hold on to Pablo until next season when Ortiz is gone and eeep him as the new DH?
Jeffrey Todd
5:24
Last I looked, he wasn't doing much hitting.
Sean
5:24
How long are the Rangers going to tolerate Desmond?
Jeffrey Todd
5:24
It'll be interesting to see. I mean, he's a traditionally slow starter and they are fairly locked into him, but you could see an increase in platoon usage. They will have some flexibility.

5:25
Hi,Jeff is it too early to say the Braves are done or can they rebound from the early struggles and possibly make a push for a .500 season?
Jeffrey Todd
5:25
That looked like a big ask even before the start, so it's a pretty easy bet to take the under.
Ben
5:26
When do reds unload Bruce
Jeffrey Todd
5:27
Probably not until June, at the earliest. We just don't see those kinds of deals happen early. Now, baseball has become increasingly loose in terms of the what and when, so who knows if someone will strike a big deal early, but I wouldn't expect it.
Kyle Schwarber's mom
5:27
Does my boy ever catch again?
Jeffrey Todd
5:28
Mrs. Schwarber is back! You are probably a great mom, because your son seems like a great dude. It is definitely in question now, I'd say. By the time he's back, Contreras could be installed as the catcher of the future. And who knows how the knee will respond? Very much unclear, but I think he'll be successful regardless.
Tom
5:28
who gets traded - Story or Rogers.
Jeffrey Todd
5:28
Let's table this issue for, like, 4 years.
Did Nick Ahmed homer yesterday?
5:29
yes
Jeffrey Todd
5:29
Duly noted.
Trevor
5:29
Does Austin Barnes possibly get moved to a team that needs a catcher? He's like 25 and has Grandal and Ellis ahead of him on the depth chart
Jeffrey Todd
5:29
Dodgers prize depth and flexibility above all. And Grandal has had plenty of health questions already. Seems unlikely.
Tom
5:31
who is the best leadoff option for the Mets?
Jeffrey Todd
5:31
I guess I'd stick with Granderson. But ... yeah, it's a fair question.
Kyle
5:31
Hi Jeff, how do you think Jose bautistas 2016 fielding experiences impact his ability to request large $$ per year in free agency next year
Jeffrey Todd
5:32
It definitely matters. If teams don't see him as even a two-year option in the OF, then he's signing as a DH for the most part. That's a major difference. I'll reserve judgment until he has a larger body of work, but it's definitely something to watch for a guy of his age.
Ben
5:32
Will the Royals look for a permanent RF (outside of Dyson)?
Jeffrey Todd
5:33
Let's see what he does upon his return first. But OF could be an area to pursue at the deadline.
Jason
5:33
When do teams stop using "potential" to grade young players who struggle in the Majors? When does it become "he is who he is"? Melvin Upton Jr was my perfect example a few years ago with that Braves contract.
Jeffrey Todd
5:34
I'm not sure the Braves signed Upton based on potential. He was a good player, albeit one with some risk (which was obviously realized).
Billy Beane
5:34
Trade jobs with me, but not salaries?
Jeffrey Todd
5:34
Only if I get to whine publicly about what a thankless task I have while quietly reaping other means of capitalizing on your sweet gig. But yes, is the answer.
Rick H.
5:34
What would it take to get Reddick?
Jeffrey Todd
5:35
Call me on like June 27th. I need some time to settle in.
Ben
5:35
Does Markakis have any trade value (without the Braves having to eat some of his salary)?
Jeffrey Todd
5:36
Eh, he's kind of a neutral value guy I think, give or take. Certainly wouldn't expect to unload the salary and get an exciting asset.
Kyle Schwarber's mom
5:36
Oh bless you, Jeffrey!
Jeffrey Todd
5:37
Can you bake me a pie? I feel like you probably make a swell pie.
Jack C
5:37
So, if a player gets hurt early in the season (Kyle Schwarber) and is out for the season, does he still get MLB service tim?
Jeffrey Todd
5:38
Yes, he was on the active roster when he was injured (obviously). You'll see questions arise when guys get sent down and end up on the minor league DL shortly thereafter. Can be cause for a grievance if there's a feeling that a player should've ended up on the MLB DL.
Michael
5:38
Any chance Teheran gets traded?
Jeffrey Todd
5:39
If he can stop loading the bases in front of Bryce Harper and grooving fastballs to him, then perhaps. Value isn't exactly up right now.
Bill from nam
5:39
Barry Bonds in his prime for Mike Trout who says no
Jeffrey Todd
5:40
As always, contracts are key.
Jacob
5:40
Do you believe Daniel Murphy is really this good now?
Jeffrey Todd
5:40
Course not. But he's a good, solid hitter and iffy fielder and should be just about what the Nats hoped he would be when they signed him.
