But then you're just trading one year of control. It is possible, but man, sometimes you gotta get it while it's hot.
No One
3:12
How good can Kevin Maitan be?
Jeffrey Todd
3:12
Unfortunately, Tim doesn't pay for me to scout 15-year-olds in the DR. But those that do seem to like him quite a bit.
Adrian
3:13
Would you do a Matz for Lucroy straight up trade? No other pieces included. With the Mets big 3 and Wheeler coming back would that be better for the Mets then including maybe 4 players instead in a trade?
Jeffrey Todd
3:13
Kind of hinted at this already, but I'll be very surprised if Mets deal from rotation. And Matz is worth more than Lucroy.
Sideshow Bob
3:14
Would Chapman really only net Vogelbach and change? I know he's only a rental but I would think one of the top closers in baseball would get at least 1 top 100 prospect. There will be a huge market for him.
Jeffrey Todd
3:14
I didn't mean to suggest that, if anyone read my other response that way. Could see him netting a top-100 prospect, potentially, if he's shopped.

Hey!!! Jeff Todd spelled backwards is Ddot Ffej! HAHAHAHAHA
Jeffrey Todd
3:15
I am secretly Dutch.
Ryan
3:16
Do Jon Jay and Andrew Cashner get traded or does Preller go the QO route?
Jeffrey Todd
3:16
Cashner may yet warrant a QO, but it's trending away from that. Jay? No way. Trade or get nothing out of him.
Sean
3:17
Susan Slusser covers most unpredictable team, top notch info/news and she is funny.
Jeffrey Todd
3:17
Good one to add. Many others as well, but she is excellent.
3:18
I also favor beat reporters that aren't overly aggressive with their live-tweeting of games that can be watched or followed online in many, many other and better ways by interested fans.
Stat-Man
3:18
Hey Kemp, you're asking the wrong guy ... stat guys don't value you're ribbies :-(
Jeffrey Todd
3:19
Yeah, because they know that a better hitter would get those ribbies and then some if put in the same situations. There's value in situational hitting, but RBI has too much noise. And it certainly doesn't boost the value of a guy with a ~.250 OBP. He's not a useless player, but you can't just ignore that.
Aaron
3:19
True of False: The Rangers, who currently have the best record in the American League, don't have any player truly worthy of being in the 2016 All-Star Game.
Jeffrey Todd
3:19
Um, very false.

Gallo for Mike Trout?
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Finally a Trout deal that makes sense!
Joe Maddon
3:20
Buster Olney or Joe Sheehan?
Jeffrey Todd
3:20
Not beat writers!

3:20
Train scenarios are probably popular questions because this is MLB TRADERUMORS??
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
I didn't say "no trade scenarios" ... I'm talking about "what if selling team X packages players x, y, and z?!"
Ryan
3:21
Can Teheran net one of Boston's top 4 prospects?
Jeffrey Todd
3:21
Not for me.
Brewrs fan
3:21
Will Smith could be traded yes or no? How about Aaron hill to the royals or mets to play 3rd?
Jeffrey Todd
3:22
Smith, sure. If he shows he's back he'd be a nice piece. But they don't have to deal him.
KG
3:22
Will the Mets keep James Loney for next season or will Loney be gone once Lucas Duda comes back?
Jeffrey Todd
3:23
In all likelihood that was a temporary move.
Walt J
3:23
What can I reasonably expect for Cozart?
Jeffrey Todd
3:24
I'd put a reasonably high ask on him and then hold if you don't get it. Still controlled for another season. Really depends if teams think the bat is legit, because he's always been nice with the glove. I remember watching him back in '12 when the Reds came through Nats park and being wowed by his play at short.
Rally Carrot
3:24
Will MLBTR ever be making improvements to the commenting system? It was talked about previously but the idea seems to have died off.
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Everything is open for improvement, but we have a priority list and take it all one step at a time. I think Tim is content enough with it as-is, but will re-visit.

Any way to fit in a third live chat every week? Look forward to this every Tuesday and Thursday
Jeffrey Todd
3:25
Thanks! Maybe we'll toss in a few more with the deadline coming.
Prich
3:26
Is being rated the same as being 'whelmed'?
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
Yes, exactly
Brian
3:26
What's a reasonable expectation for a return on Pomeranz? He's put together a solid first half of the season, but not sure how much that's raised his stock. Thanks, Jeff.
Jeffrey Todd
3:26
I really wouldn't know how to value him until the market does so.
