Question really was whether they'd add a player who would fill in now and then take over once he returned, but they haven't done that. Could still look for an upgrade elsewhere in the OF though.

I don't base that concern on my own eyes whatsoever. I'm not a scout. I'm looking at reasonable reports on his ability and the defensive metrics -- which say he's been atrocious for 3 years running.

I get why people say it, but as someone who has played catcher for most of his life I just can't get behind the idea. I love the aesthetics of baseball, and that would just ruin it to me.

Niese hasn't been great and Freese just isn't a guy who has a lot of upside. Plus, there are similar or better 3B out there - Escobar, Plouffe, Valencia. I wouldn't expect much out of either.

He has the heater and his ERA looks good, but peripherals aren't in love with him. Multi-TJ as well. Solid middle reliever/set-up guy, probably.
I meant ERA estimators not in love with him, b/c of peripherals.
